OUCH!
Point taken, and all fair points, but unlike FDR i'll take it on board/on the chin and move on...!
...but i am going to allow myself some sulking time.

In the mean time, still wish Baswich House was still standing.

For the most part I think this forum has a great array of diverse and differing views and is all the stronger for that. If we all thought the same or wrote in the same manner then it would make for a pretty boring read.
You can really sense certain strong characters coming through and you make an opinion (rightly or wrongly) as to the face and personality behind the screen. To me that is what this forum is all about.
I don't personally dislike anyone who comes on here to express a view, although I might not agree with it - I even quite like Henry's cat from time to time :)

At the risk of "trolling" I agree with what you say about Baswich House, another lovely Stafford Building that can now only be viewed through historical documents - 'tis a shame but I guess we have to move on and find the best use for the site

Agreed!

I'm a fan of Henry's Cat, because he doesn't come across as a smart arse (feel free to Like HC!) but some people do, simple, and i can easily take a dislike to those smart arses because of exactly that.

Hell, i didn't like John Marwood for a while, but i'm almost coming round to the idea of him being OK, maybe the same'll happen with you, not that you give two flying green areas if i do or don't.

Thread well and truly derailed, so, back to thread; Old police HQ...

we making up?

I got in contact with John Francis (Conservative councillor of the South East division) to see what the hell was being done to save Baswich House (there's a thread someplace i think) but alas he couldn't save it, Dave Minichimp (was that the guys name?) got his way with the classic 'uhhh, but druggies will make a home there and uhhh it'll fall down on to some unexpecting youth who's tresspassing...' and it was bulldozed, this is where i found out about protection orders for trees in and around the site.

John Francis (Conservative councillor of the South East division)

To those of us who know him from his previous life, he will always be Tommy Tannoy or Splinter*.

*Small, but very annoying.

I once tried to ring him on the internal phone system and looked him up in the directory under 'T' - I had to ask four people before somebody could remember his real name.

Well, lets see how long Little TT takes to reply to my latest email, if it's worth sharing i'll share on here, it is about the Old police HQ so may be worth sharing.

Indeed, but now Baswich House has gone to be with the Brine Baths and others in the great Stafford mutilated architecture in the sky I shall not shed a tear as to the forthcoming Police HQ demolition as it is a Pig of a building (no law enforcement pun intended)

Enjoying a drop of red.

Mr Francis is not know for expending much effort when it comes to issues his constituents may care about, except around May-time, every four years, for some strange reason. Oddly enough, he is well able to expend effort when it comes to claiming expenses...

Why nobody stands against him at selection time from his own party is a mystery to me. A corpse would do a better job!

As a relatively recent Stafford dweller I am amazed at some of the quality buildings that have been let go over the past years.
Our planners and the elected members have destroyed a fantastic architectural heritage such as the brine baths and baswich house and this gem http://www.staffordforum.com/xf/index.php?threads/the-old-station-hotel-stafford.11196/
Replacing them with cack and building the likes of scaffoldshire towers.
Do you think they like their jobs?

...i can't bring myself to even look through 'Stafford Through the Years' books, all those buildings (!) some couldn't be saved fair enough but some bigwig with a slight attention to Staffords prosperity could have saved sooooo many, the land the old police HQ stands on would have been all the better if Baswich House had stood standing!

I would say that some councilors (whom make these decisions) have lost their soddin' minds, and many have long since moved to a small hamlet in the South of France, next to quaint neighboring towns and a quiet way of life.

Just read in paper buildings were demolished to save over £126k In cost to the police and the sales have fallen through over a telephone mast in the middle of the site.

John francis has not replied to my email (won't surprise some of you) which was sent on 24th July, in regards the protection of the trees that line/fill the site we're talking about, i'll try another email and send him the same query.

As councillor for Weeping Cross, (as councillor full stop) he has to reply to emails...
...right?!

In the absence of a response, you might like to make contact directly - http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/who-is-responsible-for-trees-in-stafford-borough - and cut out the middle-man.?
