Parking in Stafford.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Most of the places that @proactive mentioned aren't outside residents property's and all are commonly used for shopping purposes albeit some are quite short duration if you take walking time to the shops into account.
As just about everything is shut right now surely there is no need to be in town for longer than the maximum that Tesco, Aldi and Asda allow.

The Council own the car park at Sainsburys.
Thank you as that answered the question I asked.

Please don't shout at Sainsbury's staff if... The machine eats your coins, it doesn't print a ticket, the price went up a year ago & you didn't realise, you stayed longer than you paid for, you didn't bother to read the sign & buy a ticket because its sunday/bank holiday/after 6pm, the car park isn't gritted, someone's pranged your car, or if you've received a parking fine... We can do absoloutly nothing, except phone the council to report a non working ticket machine!
I never spoke about shouting.
I did read the signs, but never asked about them.
Yes I know when the price was increased.
Etc & ETc

If you ask me, all town centre par parks should be free to attract people into a dying town.
So no I did not misunderstand and yes Happy New Year.

Even when everything was open, I would be hard pushed to find enough to do to take up the 2 - 3 hr limit of most free car parks. I suppose the cinema could take up more time? (If we were cinema goers).

Cinema, Cafe Nero and The Swan were the only things I can remember staying in town for more than an hour and a half, for at least five years.

My apologies I will bear your comments in mind in the future and not stay longer than 2 hours in the town as there is clearly no need (talk about pedantic)

Why ?, are you that bored.

I couldn't care less how long you spend in town, why are you getting start with me?

The Gatehouse is about the only place for us, pre-lockdown, but I'm lucky as I have free parking at work should I need it. Plus I'm only a 25 min walk from the town centre.

I'd forgotten about the Gatehouse, it all seems so long ago. Used to park at Wilkos but I guess that won't be possible for free any more, should the current excitement come to an end. And please keep what you get up to in lockdown to yourself...

Walking to town has removed all my parking stresses! I had a sainsburys machine ate my coins but no ticket fail one time too often so order online now. Just go town for my fruit and veg.

Is Sainsburys ANPR? I forgot to get a ticket last night, never use the place, only realised as I was leaving! Was only in 5 mins, literally grabbed some cider then gone.

No. And no-one bothers buying a ticket after all the parking gnomes have gone home. Same if you get there at 7am, especially if it's a very quick pop in and out.

Around 18.00 ish. Although they congregate outside their little room by the Wilkos toilets around 17.30ishhh
Figured as much, I always go off peak and my car has never caught one on camera

Doesn’t really make sense to keep people on after 6 I suppose, that carpark sees so little use… I wonder if it negatively impacts Sainsbury’s trade given I can get two hours at Kingsmead and two hours at Asda for nil

I usually wouldn't bother with Sainsburys exactly because of the paid parking, it used to be coins only and I rarely had any. As you say other shops are free, may as well use them. However I realised they sold a particular cider I'd not had since No7 closed.
