Just seen my inside man this morning and had it confirmed that it opens tomorrow.

Apparently was a "friends and family" day there today where staff's f&F could get meals for £1!!!
i have literally been sitting here hitting F5, waiting for your reply lol.. this is excellent news!!

shame we didn't know about the F&F day; i'm sure we could have blagged our way in somehow ;)

weird that this is opening today, and i haven't seen any kind of advertising.. nothing in any of the local rags, nothing on the sentinel website - there isn't even a sign up on the big billboard showing what shops are on the retail park!

who are they getting to do the promotion - lunar scorpion?? :haw:

When the new Brantano opened on the other retail park the doors had been open for weeks when the press and stuff anounced the opening. It's something they do to get all the new staff up to speed before the mega-hordes hit.

Agreed Goldilox, this is KFC we are talking about, the fried chicken company that often runs out of fried chicken and regularly has queues out of the door because they have 10 staff standing doing nothing and 1 till open....

Looking forward to hearing back from you later tonight Dirtybobby on whether its open yet.

ah, good point.. most places open before the "official" opening date, in fact, don't they? excellent..

yeah, i am banking on the fact that KFC already know what a travesty their current outlet is, and so are hopefully going to pull out all the stops for this new joint.. i mean, the existing one can't bring in much money, yet their corporate moles must wonder why this is when stafford can clearly support 2 mcdonalds, a dominos, a pizza express, and numerous other fast food emporiums..

i won't be going tonight, alas - there's cottage pie that needs to be eaten - but i'm planning on going tomorrow night :D

I could be (and probably am) wrong, but I think KFC's are franchises. So as long as KFC get their cut, they probably don't care how much business their store does.

Also, despite how god awful Stafford KFC is, I keep going back there (and hating myself for doing it) but what other choice do I have for yummy fried chicken..

I have pinned all my hopes on the new branch being better than the old one, but to be honest i'm probably going to be let down. I went to the Cheshire Oaks KFC last week and that was slow and they had run out of crispy strips so my variety meal suffered as a result. I also went to Ellesmere Port KFC a few months back and they had run out of chicken at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon and they said I would have to wait 30 minutes for some more to be cooked.... FAST FOOD!!!

However if the new one is any good at all then surely the old one will shortly shut down...?

I went to a KFC in Romford not so long ago and it was fantastic, store was very new, and the chicken was exquisite!

oh god, you've got me worried now lol..

i absolutely love KFC, but the greyfriars one is so bad that i went there once last year (when i moved back to stafford) and haven't had a KFC since - that's how bad it was :(

when i lived in sheffield, my local one couldn't be faulted.. i used to go there on the regular, and never once was kept waiting or told that something was out of stock.. one thing worth noting was that this was on a retail park, along with a pizza hut, big argos, etc. - i.e. exactly the same set-up as this new one on the hough! i wonder if competing directly with another restaurant (i.e. pizza hut) combined with a constant influx of customers (from the surrounding shops/hotel) keeps them on their toes? one can only hope that is the case :D

Well just been and it's thumbs up.

Nice quick service, not too busy! Service with a smile and the food was still hot when i got it back to work!

Some faces I recognise behind the counter too that used to work at the old one a while back.

It wasn't a case of dropping the ball mate...I have no intention of going to KFC as I think it's crap. If someone was to take me there and buy me a meal i'd eat it, much the same with a lot of other fast food joints, but I would never go out of my way to have a KFC. Like i've said before....WIMPY FTW!!

Right well bad news I'm afraid. Went to KFC at 7.30 tonight only to find they had NO CHICKEN.

Thats right, no chicken. I was told 15 minutes and then it may still not be done. So went to Rugley and had a Burger King

That's finger lickin' shit mate...you'd think they'd ensure they had enough chuck ready to feed the whole of the 'Ford in the first few weeks. Was it busy, or did they tell you that's why there's none available immediately?

Serious fowl play

The greyfriars one once told me they'd litterally ran out of chicken, AND baps. I asked why they were still open instead of putting a sign on the door, and some spotty geezer asked me in return "if i'd like a coke". lmao

Nothing changes!!
