Its on a RETAIL park in the run up to CHRISTMAS and its a NEW STORE and the place should be packed with joe public after an easy meal after a hard days shopping.

The greyfriars one once told me they'd litterally ran out of chicken, AND baps. I asked why they were still open instead of putting a sign on the door, and some spotty geezer asked me in return "if i'd like a coke". lmao

Nothing changes!!
Similar happened to me, then they tried to fob me off with chips and coleslaw. Not even gravy FFS!

Is it me - or is the KFC in Stafford always a right dirty hole - bins always full, and floors really sticky. Ive been in 3 days in the last 8 weeks and each time its been really disusting. YUK YUK YUK

I like KFC so its brilliant news that we have a new one.

Hi Tinkerbell, welcome to The Forum :D

There are plenty of people here who agree with you - see all the posts in this thread! I've moved your post here to keep them all together :)

well, this is a let down.. i went in at 17:00 and ordered a tower fillet box meal and a zinger box meal, only to be told they had no cobettes

since i was in the car on my own, i didn't really want the faff of transporting drinks, so seeing as my side of choice was unavailable i scratched the box meals and just ordered a tower fillet burger, zinger burger, and two large fries.. this came to nearly £9, which is basically the price of the two box meals anyway!

to further add insult to injury, the "large" fries were about the size of mcdonalds' medium fries - if that.. now, it's so long since i've been to kfc (because of my boycott of the awful greyfriars one) that i don't know whether this is normal, or whether they gave me the wrong size.. either way, i felt very short-changed..

on the plus side, the restaurant was very clean (obviously) and the food was lovely and hot, even after transporting it home during rush hour, so it wasn't all bad.. me and ms. dirtybobby were just glad to finally have a KFC after all this time, but i have to admit it makes me very apprehensive for the future :/

probably not.. as someone else has mentioned, KFC is franchised, so unless they really start bringing the corporate image into disrepute i doubt anyone will care enough to do anything!

Hopefully this will be down to teething problems and they will sort it out. Its not science rocket though, first week of opening, loads of people will nip in to try you out, better to have loads of chicken and have to give it away as free samples or to staff on breaks than have people come in and be dissapointed.

Not sure about the fries issue dirtybobby, I haven't had a McD's for so long but I think you may be right about KFC's portions being smaller.

I have now been to the new KFC, and its as good as the greyfriars one :|

I went in about 1pm on Monday, and asked for a Hot Rod meal. They said they didn't sell them. I pointed to the (rather large) menu behind the chap, which showed said hot rod meal in all its chickeny glory. I then indicated towards the front door, where an even larger advertising board enticed people in with promises of spicy goodness. He got someone else, maybe his manager. That person said it was a new menu, and none were prepared. I asked why not, as they had been open 2.5 hours, and he just said none were ready. No offer to cook any.

I thought fine, fook this, I'll just have a zinger meal and some hot wings. I order, they say hot wings will be a while. Said thats fine, I'll wait. Sister orders her food, and I spot the fully loaded box meals. I asked if I could swap mine to one of those, as they also have hot wings. No problem. Meal arrives, no hot wings. Get told I ordered the wrong meal, hmm. Get back to the table, no salad on anything. Were about to complain when the guy out with his family next to me did instead, got told there's no salad. No mention of this while ordering. A family that entered after me left after being unable to order anything they wanted.

Staff seemed quite surly, basically didn't seem to give a toss. So I very much doubt I'll be going back, amazed they can already be in this state after a week of opening.

that is absolutely appalling.. just one thing - fully loaded box meals don't come with hot wings, they come with a chicken fillet.. hot wings only come with zinger box meals!

still doesn't excuse the rest of the story.. i just can't believe this one will go the way of the greyfriars one :(

Well I ordered a zinger fully loaded box meal, and said 'that still comes with hot wings doesn't it?', to which he said yes. Turns out I was supposed to order a wicked zinger meal, as the fully loaded zinger meal just comes with a piece of chicken. I'd lost the will to argue at this point, I'd be looking at a night in the cells for ABH with a chicken drumstick.

No disrespect to anyone who works in / has worked in these places but the level of intelligence of your average KFC store manage is just below that of a goldfish, so it stands the reason the staff will be worse the further down the hierarchy. Also if you were on minimum wage would you give a monkeys? I wouldn't.

Doesn't excuse the poor service, I'm amazed that this is so bad so soon!

I am absolutely gutted to hear the stories coming out of this place.

To move to a town with one rubbish KFC is unfortunate but to then have a second rubbish KFC open up is just downright crazy. WTF is going on.... I can feel a rant to KFC HQ and I haven't even been to the place yet.

Thats all well and good, but you'll probably get a pre-printed apology slip with a handful of vouchers to spend on the chicken they don't stock :(

Edit: I wish more franchises were like Dominos, I have had a couple of problems with them in the past but they have always bent over backwards to sort it out.

Having worked on the opening of a number of establishments it always goes tits up at the start. Until you sort out the ordering & get the new staff up to speed, there's bound to be problems. That said, they should at least look as if they want to sort it out and be suitably apologetic. I'd suggest if you want good service you leave it at least three weeks after the opening of anywhere to try it out!

Of course everyone is allowed teething problems, i think the general consensus as you say is the lack of apologies or the appearance that staff give a monkeys. Surely they can over order a little though, i mean fries, onion rings etc. are all frozen, i assume the chicken is too and i bet there is more preservative in the secret blend these days than secret blend.

this is exactly how i feel.. when i moved back to stafford, i was so disappointed with my greyfriars experience that i pretty much resigned myself to never having a kfc in stafford ever again.. the joy i felt when i heard a new drive-thru was opening was unbelieveable, so to have all my hopes dashed by this thread really is crushing :(

Just think of it this way, the shite service, moronic staff and scarcity of required food mean that when it does come together its so much better! We'd get bored of it if it was always good :D
