So if I have got this right, it's ran by a WOMAN who hopes to get loads of older men together in a shed??? :raise:
Perhaps the idea is to get some peace and quiet - or just stop them drilling holes everywhere and covering their nice house with lights...
LOL

Skill point Gramaisc! ;)

On a serious note though now, I've hit a problem I didn't really consider.... where exactly can people park their car to watch??! I should have thought this one through a bit better me thinks. It's a crossroads with double yellows around all corners! How daft am I??

I've tried to position my own car tonight without much joy, and if 3 or 4 car loads turned up at once it would become impossible.

I might have to go back to blaring out the neighbourhood still, but make it just once a night. In some ways though I think it probably feels better with everyone standing around to watch it together as well.
Any thoughts people please??

It always has been my intention to stand on the corner, but with a portable receiver* this time.

* It seems that one can't call them 'trannies', like what we used to, any more.

But how many people would turn up to watch on foot with a radio do you think? (despite what the website says)?

Bit of both? One or two displays with full-audio each night and radio-only at other regular intervals through the evening?.

Is that a Moomin?
I agree with Gramaisc, do a show with audio from a loudspeaker and then the later ones on radio only. I quite like the convivial nature of standing in a group and ooohing and ahhhhhing together.... (waits for the double entendre monster to arrive)

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I will decide what I'm doing in the next couple of days, but you're plan sounds quite... well... like a plan!
;)

Sounds like a good plan to me, I didn't like the fiddle of tuning in though others may have.

Cheers for your opinion too. :)

Don't get me wrong, if I could I'd have the show 6 times a night pumping out at 100 watt's with snow effects and rockets like the official launch last year I would ;) ... but then I have neighbours to think of. lol.
Although none of them complained, we live on a street where people are so tollerable that they won't say anything, even if it's actually driving them mad.

WOW

NEVER join forums just to make a point, but WOW!

I've just seen your request for Ghetto Blasters on Freegle and followed the links through. Ok, initially I thought..."Oh dear, a Christmas light show on a Stafford house", but I suppose (sadly) that's the typical way today - judging a book before seeing its cover and all that. I have spent a time in the US where everything is BIG and over the top but I have to say, where we can never top them (yet) on lights and gizmos (without re-mortgaging the house anyway!); I never saw anything over there even close to what you've achieved - to quote the yanks, "Awesome"! (I often tell my little ones off for overusing that expresion!).

I (again sadly) expected a few rope lights and twinkly tree lights set to a tinny version of JIngle Bells, etc but WOW! The show and music was simply jaw dropping - hence my mail.

We had similar for Halloween and, while setting everything up (stirring witch, flying ghosts, moving grave keeper, Gregorian chant, etc - all homemade) had a number of cars and people stop asking if we took donations. We didn't as it was only for a party we had for the kids and local neighbours. Maybe next year we'll take your lead and example.

Fantastic work and just what communities need. Unfortunately I dont have a GB but will be monitoring this from now on and will help in any way I can (just wondering how I can change the animatronics above from scary to Christmas!) you could have them in the front garden, If I come up with anything, I'll let you know.

An example to us all, well done.
