When it's nose to tail on the Beaconside road towards Parkside by Tollgate Drive what goes through the heads of the morons who block the traffic trying to emerge right from Tollgate Drive. It's not like those stuck in traffic can go anywhere or that the cars emerging will make their wait longer. I just don't understand how they can think the 10 feet they get further forward is worth blocking a junction over. Madness

Marston Lane is a thick layer of mud/clay that gets transferred to Beaconside all the way to Redhill roundabout. Machinery all over the place. Has the Highways Dept been disbanded, because this area is an accident waiting to happen. Duty of Care? rof literally, without the laughing.

I have had correspondence with them. They don't give a toss.

Well, who cares if an occasional cyclist gets flattened by a JCB and buried in the foundations? The main prority in Stafflood appears to be building houses that have inadequate infrastructure. In Marston Lane's case they appear to need a canal rather than a road.

On the Don't Give a Toss theme, it seems that the Creswell to Great Bridgeford road is collapsing again, with a junior sink hole developing near the Whitgreave turn, right on the bridge.

^ Rumour has it that this was a hit-and-run, but there's no sign of any appeal for info from the cops (that I can find).

The M6 has been shut in both directions as police search HGVs due to a 'major incident' near Stoke-on-Trent.

Both northbound and southbound carriageways of the M6 between J15 and J16 were completely closed this evening.

Drivers reported seeing what they believed were migrants being lined up at the side of the road after being found inside a lorry.

Martin Kavanagh was on his way home from Coventry when he got caught in the tailback.

He told Sky News: 'It looks to me like east African refugees, one lying on the hard shoulder, several have been taken into ambulances, there was one at large on the far side of the opposite southbound carriageway and police apprehended that individual and brought him back over.

'There are multiple lorries involved. There are lots of police and paramedics here and they've done a super job, but we have not been given any communication from the police.

'One or two people have gone up to the police, but they have kept them at a sensible distance and sent them back to their vehicles.

'I'm now four hours into my journey with no sign of the motorway being cleared.'

Lorries on the M6 are being searched after police closed both sections of the road over the 'major' incident

A statement from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said there was an 'ongoing major incident on the M6 near Stoke-on-Trent.'

A Highways England spokesman said: 'The M6 is closed in both directions between junction 15 and Junction 16 (Stoke-on-Trent) due to a Staffordshire Police led incident.'

A police helicopter has been sighted in the area while local people said nearby woodland and grass areas were being searched in the dark.

One motorist said he is in the queue but has not seen any other emergency services, except police.

He wrote on Twitter: 'It doesn't look like an accident - just cops - no ambulances or fire engines.'

He later added: 'HGVs being pulled over by the cops in droves. Rolling police roadblock! Looks like cops acting on some sort of intel.'
