It was a lie, although the roadworks at the roundabout are complete, they've just shifted the chaos of cones & roadworks a few feet down the road nearer to town...ssdd.I believed the roadworks sign on the 22nd, saying that roadworks would be completed by the 21st
That was a mistake.

Nah, you're still not allowed - the big yellow signs are still there...At least Alliance Street has been liberated for the rest of us to tear down now

That would require some measure of collective intelligence which clearly is sadly lacking when you look at the way they park their cars. The one on the Stone road had gone this afternoon, perhaps the yokels have rebelled and reinstated it.

Oh no they aren't. Definitely no signs on the Stone Road side nor on Charles Cotton street anymore.
The driving test standards have probably gone up since we did it, but driving standards on the road are definitely much lower.
I don't think the test is of any great relevance, lack of active enforcement is a far greater issue.is that an argument to bring in mandatory every xx years retests?
or perhaps standards would increase if there were any traffic cops left?

I had to explain the meaning of flashing amber lights to someone a couple of years ago. He had noticed that the crossing at the Wolverhampton Road doctors' sometimes did it and he had "never seen it anywhere else before".
By now everyone will know that there's roadworks at the beginning of the Doxey Road, (coming from town), it can cause quite a backlog at certain times of the day. No-one seems to know The Highway Code. The roundabout into Sainsbugs is continously being blocked by drivers wanting to get that little bit further into their journey than that next person. Just sat and watched a queue form outside our house because no-one could turn into the carparks.
Are people really in that much of a hurry these days, or have driving test standards been altered?

It's essentially what we seem to regard as 'normal'.What's the traffic like up the north end (Eccleshall , Stone Road & J14 area) at the moment ? Are the roadworks and road closures still there or is it back to more or less normal now?
Heading up M6 north tomorrow morning and wondering whether going back to J13 would be the best bet instead of through town to J14.....
Cheers (Want as smooth a journey as possible with being a passenger in sons car rather than driving. Usually within a few yards as a passenger, so didn't fancy too much of stop-start for hours before we even hit the motorway....)It's essentially what we seem to regard as 'normal'.
For a few weeks....
