Does anyone remember in 2000 when it flooded so much it was up to the bridge near 'spoons?
Hell Yes! We were kept busy pumping out various establishments and rescuing livestock all over the county, but our claim to fame was the rescuing the residents of Sandon Road by boat!
Sky got hold of the video from the Brigades Press officer, and my mum and dad got the shock of their life while on holiday in Portugal. They were luxurating the sub tropical temperatures of a hot Portugese November, sipping chilled rose at a beach bar, when something caught dads eye on the bars' telly, Stafford on Sky News, semi-submerged, and sure enough Number two son, nadger deep, towing some owd biddy in an inflatable boat!
It was great for us to be quite honest, and totally selfish, we just went from job to job with barely a break for a brew, Stafford can be quite a quiet station at times, but not that week!
Has anyone noticed that the marsh off the Queensway is resembling a Louisiana Swamp, and has been for months? The Council car park off North Walls has been under flood water for ages. I cannot honestly remember when it was last submerged for this length of time. I half expect to see some Cajun Hillbillies emerging, a la Southern Comfort (now there was a film)
