Well, went in tonight. Very impressed overall. Pies were great, I went for the festive one (venison, pheasant, partridge), and my GF and my brother went for Mr Porky. My GFs daughter was with us, and they only normally do sausage and mash for kids. We asked for for a smaller portion of the cold meat and bread platter, but were told they couldn't do it. TBH that did put me off a bit, but the owner came over to ask how we were and I asked him, and he immediately sorted it out for us. He was great, very friendly and good with kids. Also he got my green goblin, so top marks there! It was still in the cellar when I arrived, and not even on the till, but it he just told me to pay later when they'd sorted it out. Somebody else, possibly a co-owner, also got us some coloured pencils and pictures for Ellie to colour in, so that was nice. We also sampled the Thatchers Gold, which makes a very nice change from Strongbow that everyone sells. No idea on the real ales, don't drink them, but there were 6 on.
So to sum up, I'll go back. Food is strangely limited, its pie or cured cold meat, but I'm happy with that. He serves food til about half 10, and closes about 11. Opens at 9 too, should you want early doors. Oh, and the sticky toffee roulade is bloody amazing! None of us wanted it, so just got one for the little un, then all helped her eat it! Apparently the champagne mouse with strawberries is addictive, may have to try that next time.
Its also 'technicaly' on my way home, so I may have to start having my tea there some nights....
