*I was extremely chuffed to find the car parking permit on the email. Much less fuss. I appreciate that it is the ultimate first world problem to mind a quick diversion into the building to collect a pass but, even so, thank you.

Also, do other forumites know that The Swan has got a fab bike maintenance point in the car park?

It does get used frequently. Although maybe less so in this weather. :snowman::snowman:

Tried to get dropped off at the back of the swan last night but two cars in front first ' t get through barrier so reversed making the second one pull in on the left where there was already someone parked, left very little room to turn found so we had to back out into the road to escape, where I had to walk in the pouring rain ( toe) whilst my friend trotted on ahead to get the drinks....wasn't happy when I looked in the mirror my hair looked like an exploded shredded wheat.

About 20 of us are going to The Swan tonight for our ward Christmas meal. We shall all be very well behaved, the boss is going too.
@ChrisLewis , I shall be the quiet one on the end, sipping her lime and soda, and smiling at everyone like I'm a patient on a night out.

Saturday night, big screen behind the bar with Sky/BBC News24, why??

Just when I'm enjoying my night, I pop to the bar and there, I'm faced with the latest depressing news whilst I wait for my pint to be poured.

Rolling news, I'm just glad I didn't see a news report on the latest binge drinking epidemic, or the latest pub brawl where someone died and several seriously injured, or it's not safe to go out to a boozer any longer for the fear of your own safety, nah, just more of the usual; latest job losses some place and/or shootings and/or terrorists attacks.

@ChrisLewis you got to agree with me!

Thanks for the feedback - yes I'm sure we could do better - it should have had a slideshow of various Swan related topics on the screen, once the rugby had finished

I thought I'd seen that screen with advertisements* of the good sort (Stafford related) before.

Wetherspoons show the news and on a much bigger screen, and by Christ it's off puttin'!
...so much so, that I try to bypass a cheap pint in there, because of it.

Thanks Chris.

*get The Red Lion's progress on there, if you haven't already.

I actually quite like the news been on, to be honest. I can sit with a coffee and a book and get up to date on current affairs - or I find it can stimulate new conversation topics when I'm there with a group. I find the idea of scrolling advertisements kind of dull and off putting, tbh.

Different stroke for different folks, I guess.

If you don't like it, don't look at it I guess?
Sometimes the simplest of solutions are best, but not always possible, that's life.

If you want to gripe to an opinion that doesn't meet your own, feel free.
...oh, you did.
