Just to clarify....

Dog and Doublet valentines menu says £29.95 per person.
Swan valentines menu says £35 per person.
Moat House valentines menu just says £70.

Can you confirm how much the Moat House is per person? :lorks:

Evening Wildwood,
All prices are per person, we still have availability at all three at the moment.

Still the same prices Chris?

Hi Chris,

Is it my imagination or have all prices on the standard Swan menu gone up quite a bit?

We have had Beef Stroganof a few times last year and im sure this was priced under £10 and now is near £14,

Sorry for the tardiness of this reply, yes our prices have increased, but I'd disagree that they have increased by "quite a bit"

Beef Stroganoff has gone up by 95p, across the menu our prices in 12 months have moved by under 5% which considering high street food inflation is a realistic control of price inflation on our behalf.

Added to this as you'll realise we now offer 3 nights where we serve a two course meal for two people plus a bottle of wine for on average £25.00.

Plus, to be ruthlessly honest, if everyone else takes a nice payout on special occasions why shouldn't they? You meet demand with price in a way that hopefully creates maximum profit for outlay, anything else is suicide especially when competing with chain places that can easily subsidise a failing facility. Make hay while the sun shines etc. These occasions are rare though, the normal prices are what will make a place succeed.

If you are fool enough to think a meal out on a pre-prescribed day of the year is somehow more romantic than one for no reason whatsoever then you deserve to pay through the nose for it.

Have to say I think £23.95 on veggie night for what you get is very good indeed. As a comparison, Pizza Hut will flog you two pizzas and a bottle of pop for £20 to take away. Against that the Swan's offering is very good!!

Sorry, maybe my post seemed harsh, I always thought the beef Straganoff was under £10 as it was a cheapskate option for myself.

Please dont get me wrong i really like the swan, having a beer by the fire in the winter or the live music in the summer.
I think the Steak and Fish nights are great (Purchased 2 x £30 Vouchers for Christmas Presents), im just hoping the prices dont creep up that it makes going an average pub a more appealing choice.

As above i would certainly pay the bit extra to have the food and service the swan offers.

Although just got to add we did go the Bear last week and paid for extra onion rings , a bit dissapointed to recieve 2 onion rings :(

Sorry, Chris but I have eaten at The Dog & Doublet recently and I found the food to be really tasteless. I'm just trying to give you some constructive feedback here.

All the Offer nights are very good value considering it's real food and not mass produced sh!te :)

Appreciate your feedback - I can't do much about thing if I'm not told so personally I'd prefer any day to have 100 customers giving me feedback as opposed to customers who visit and use their feet to show their dissatisfaction i.e. they walk into another venue in the future. Improvements will follow asap.

Might be helpful to say specifically which dishes? Am sure that you didn't eat the whole menu....

Sorry, Chris, the last thing I want to do is get your chef into trouble but I have to speak as I find/eat. I had the gammon and pineapply with chips and it really was tasteless. So sorry!

I look forward to some Gammon testing and as I said previously I honestly don't mind feedback and the same can be said for the rest of my team because simply without repeat customers we don't have a good business. Something all our team throughout the Lewis Partnership understand.
