Today I saw...

I saw that much open space on a ship I'd be checking my lifejacket and where the quick release life rafts were. (Although I'd probably check the location of the bar first.)

The lifeboats are on that deck - if there was water up there, we would probably have had the seven short blasts and one long blast...

F*** lifeboats. I've been in one. I'm going for those rafts every time. And with those things the deck goes downward sideways in order to reach the water once there's some ingress.
Which deck is the bar on ? :heyhey:

The empty deck in the picture is 7 - 8 is the lowerable mezzanine, seen in the raised position - there are bars on the passenger decks, 9 and 11 - 10 is mostly cabins and crew facilities, + the bridge.

11 is the only deck passengers can go outside (and smoke) on, at the rear by the funnel, but to get to it from the enclosed part of 11 at the front, you have to go down to 9, back along the ship and then up to 11 again, the central part of 11 is crew facilities again.

There's an old adage.

If every insect on Earth died tomorrow, the human race would follow within 5 years.

If every human being died tomorrow, the insects wouldn't even notice. :lorks:
Apart from being well fed for the foreseeable future.

Bollards blocking the Wildwood co-op carpark entrance not so effective as they were planned to be.

Expected Mr white van man to go crashing into them the speed he was approaching them ..

No, whizzed around the side of them and over the grass verge.

WOW I'm impressed. Never seen that on a bus before. They must have a mains inverter stashed away somewhere. Very handy for people to be glued to their phones instead of looking out of the window at boring stuff like the Great Rift Valley, Jurassic leftover animals wandering about and vast hordes of Mongols riding across endless plains.
(In case you think I'm exaggerating I've been on a number of pub coach trips to Blackpool where I've seen all these things.) :pint:
