You really don't need that much. It's a bit like filling a beer tray with about a quarter inch of water, then trying to carry it across a room without spilling any.

You can get a lot in, if you only need a meter of bow wave to get over the lip - and the newer ships are supposed to survive half a meter on the decks.

Thing is half a metre isn’t much when you have such open spaces where it can flop around. It will tip the ship. But I’m used to ships that are heavily sectioned, and that includes enormous ships like VLCC’s (supertankers) so I get uneasy when I see open spaces like that. The sea (and physics) is unforgiving. :?:

Difficult to pump vehicles off a ship. It would take a long time to unload and then reload three miles of parking lanes with a crane.

The half metre is designed to be a survivable amount on a modern ship - and you're not going to be scooping it in at the rate that the Herald did. With a reasonable load of vehicles you would get quite an amount of free baffling available.

There have been events in recent years with vehicles toppling over and sliding about, on the smaller vessels and sometimes handbrake-related, but I'm unaware of any incidents involving seawater damage.

Then let's hope none them ever gets bumped. You wouldn't need much of a hole with open spaces like that. And movable cargo would make the situation much worse.

Puddles in the potholes in the newly filled in potholes on Radford bank....they are going to end up as craters again at this rate in a few weeks time.

Also....2 tractors pulling trailers , both loaded with sawn up trees which must have been hundreds of years old, leaving the old Baswich police headquarters.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Who could possibly have foreseen either of those things happening...

Retrospective:- I think I saw @Goldilox at St Georges yesterday. Not 100% certain it was *he/she/it. I'm probably wrong.
*He/she/it was looking for Trust Headquarters, but under it's better known name of Mellor House. I was able point them in the right direction tho.

*Delete as necessary.

How do I edit this?
@Goldilox is a bearded lady, a well known attraction on the local alternative Circus scene.

There's probably better money in that than in blues music tbh...

I can confirm that it was indeed me being confused that the address I had been given for an official rendezvous (Mellor House) did not match the signs on the building (which read "Trust Headquarters").

I was the 1 in light blue that asked if you were ok. Very nice to meet you at last, even if you didn't have a clue who I was or where you were!
Hope you've been booked to entertain the patients for a long time to come? x

Saw on the news last week that 'the government' is calling for utility companies to guarantee their road work for five years instead of the current three years.
The Clanford Road pot holes filled in by the local authority last spring are breaking up already.

Hypocrisy? In government? Naaaa.

... 'my' car deck vacant again, so I got a picture from the other side.

The RNLI obviously monitor the Forum and have taken @BobClay's worries about the lack of bulkheads on board, going as far as to shadow us for a bit.
