What's for dinner/tea?

Even though they had turkey on the carvery yesterday I didn’t have it.
My first turkey of the year is always Christmas Day.

I used to be strict with sprouts too, I love them so much that I made myself wait until Christmas Day until I realised that was a bit daft.

Tonight we are having party food buffet and some fizz.

We are having traditional turkey roast on the 25th. The rest of the time we are just having party food thrown in the air fryer. No turkey curry or cold turkey and chips. Party food is the biz!

We’re the opposite. It’s party food in abundance before Christmas Day but then afterwards it’s turkey with everything.

Not one bit of our turkey gets wasted, turkey pie, turkey and vegetable soup (Christmas dinner soup), turkey and mushroom in white wine sauce with rice, turkey this and turkey that.

All goes in the freezer and feeds us for weeks.

Tonight, I personally will be having, smoked salmon and prawn starter. Roast Chicken, followed by a Chocolate Brownie. It's the ward Christmas piss up, there's 17 of us heading to the Manchester Central Entertainment thing. Not looking forward to it, never do, but it's a night out. It's an all inclusive thing, as many drinks you can get down your neck between 06.30 and 1am.

"between 06.30 and 1am" is 18½ hours.
Rather you than me.

I had my usual starter or a slice of white bread in gravy (just to check the gravy is good of course).

Braised lamb, roast potatoes & parsnips, carrot & swede mash, and roasted cabbage

It was the ward annual Christmas piss up. Yes, I got my times wrong, but I'm on nights and always tired.
Went well, food was just about adequate, but I'm used to having a large plateful and filling my boots.
We were all very undressed, seeing how the rest of the great unwashed scrubbed up.
Stayed in the Premier Inn right opposite the convention centre, so not far to stumble. Paced myself with the drinks, so didn't get drunk at all. Personally, I don't like the feeling the next morning, so know when to stop the alcohol.
Entertainment was good, some Cirque de sumat. Finale was fire dancers and a bloke on a trapeze, huge gasps all round as he went from sitting to holding on with 1 hand etc.
There is a fairground there, tickets are extremely expensive, but we managed get 25 free ones. Used the 1 I got to go on the Waltzers, Now, Last time I went on them was back in 1974, I was very young and didn't have a care in the entire world. This time, I am going to be 60 in 20 days. 1 of the lads I sat with told the bloke running it to spin us as fast as he could, because I enjoyed that. No! I almost met my tea again. Got off and everyone that had been laughing at me going on there, suddenly went quiet because I had gone the same colour as Casper the Ghost. I am normally very pale, but I was white. Happily, said bloke has now left for pastures new in Sheffield, so we shouldn't have to see his face ever again.
Was a good night tho.
