one word. SUBLIME. grossly unknown band in the UK, big in america new zealand australia south america yadayada everywhere but here basically. lead singer died in 1997, its a shame, but through the power of guitar and longing ears i will attempt to expose all you tarts to it.
so if you will, download/buy some sublime if ne genres like ska/punk/reggae/hip hop and dub interest you, its all there in their albums. also would be good if next time i play a Sublime song you tools could sing along with me.

Are they the band whose singer died from a heroin o/d?

If they are I swear I saw them during the 90s supporting a band called Wax. Or vice versa.

Memory really is shit these days.

surely this would be better placed in the "What's rocking your musical world?" thread?? lol

i've never actually heard any of their stuff, but the problem i have with Sublime is that the only people i ever hear mention them is hippies, or surfer types, which puts me off right away lol..

anyhoo, welcome brother :D

Call me ancient and old fashioned, but in my day, when a young whipper snapper came on the Forum, he wouldn't refer to us as Tools and Tarts, what is the world coming to?

Come to think of it, in my day we didn't have forums, ... or computers, ... or electricity for that matter. :/

We did however have Frank and little Frank

i use tarts and tools in the most indearing way possible. i carefully selected them over other words i personally believe to be indearing, such as sluts and hoes, but the rest of the world is yet to catch up with my youthful take on language. meh.

but of course u had frank and little frank! and of course, the Space music and Timperly.

plus ok i got the wrong thread. i was tired, and didnt notice the tiny 3 letter word. oh the shame of it all.

hmm not to sure about the grown at home band, iv mostly left punk behind me but still like a little bit. i no longer like brass very much in ska. leave it to upstrokes and mad bass riffs.
love x

they aint hippies or surfers (probably being way too fat for both). they are, however, skaters. i dont know where u stand on that one. but u shouldnt let ne of that get in the way if u like REGGAE

i bloody HATE ska.
all of it.
it should die in some kind of amusing zoo related accident.
I assume you are talking about the stuff that spotty urban, mainly white, youths started playing in the 80's, which, though I like aswell, is not fit to compare with the original sounds of Ska from the wonderful Jamaican masters of Ska from the late 50's early 60's.

Ah yes! I thought so! You'll agree with me then, that the original stuff is wonderful, earthy, heady, hip swivelling, groin grindin', musical heaven.

Prince Buster, Clement 'Coxone' Dodd, The Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Lord Tanamo etc', etc', etc', God Bless 'em all!

Ah dude you got my memory on recall big time!
stunning stuff the old and the newer ska ..who can forget skinhead moonstomp and longshot kick d bucket, liquadator etc , tryin rum for the first time and instantly regretting it ! ..and oodles of other happy memories .. nice one

A spot on summary Rich. They're bobbins. Always have been, always will be.

I never rated Queen and MCR sound like a pub tribute band atm.
