The only thing i got through the door hole had a picture of Farage on it - i thought he was in Thanet, damn it, Janet?

What does 'our' guy look like i don't wonder

Seems Nige has been so preoccupied with saving his own arse, he's been unable to spread his pixie dust (fag ash) outside of his own vortex of doom.

Today will see the beginning of the end for UKIP, voters will revert to type and vote for the parties that their parents voted for!

I am now off to vote for UKIP and buy lots of goodies for my 'Election Night' vigil!

RTÉ News has a general story about the election in a neighbouring island. They are illustrating it with a picture that seems to show a chap expressing his opinion of the process..

Doubt many will vote UKIP in Stafford, suspect they will in other areas though, areas more affected by mass immigration..........2 + 2 = 5 and all that.

UKIP up +9.5% in Stafford - the biggest gain of any party. This echos most of the country.

So in the end it was Vote UKIP and Get Tory.
Labour were in denial that a chunk of their traditional support went over to UKIP and didn't do enough to 'bring them home'.

At least 10 years of un shackled Conservative doctrine is what the plebs have asked for

And the plebs will moanlikefuck when they realise what they have signed off on

We may have to have a grown up discussion about this quite soon.

It is looking likely that we will have to participate in European Parliament elections if we are to extend the time we have to finalise our negotiations to Leave, like you all still want to do because obviously none of you have either changed your mind, died, or have turned 18 in the last three years.

Because let's overlook the fact that actually, whilst it might be somewhat controversial to suggest that some of the cohort of 2016 may have changed their minds, what is actually incontrovertible is that very many of them are now most certainly dead, and there are now as many people who have been, in that time, newly enfranchised.

Actually, let's not overlook that, let's concentrate on that a bit.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party

We are where we are because a terribly low turnout delivered a shower of UKIP shite to the last European Parliament. Yes, there is an European Parliament that you send Representatives to. IF YOU FECKING VOTE FOR THEM.

We will almost certainly find ourselves in the position that we will have to take European Parliament elections seriously for a fecking change. Please, please, please take them seriously.

Vote for any party that has serious European ambitions - can we please make UKIP history?

This is hugely important, not for you particularly, but this is about your children and grandchildren - their future is being stolen from them right now, you must wrest it back.

Seriously though, European Parliament elections have hitherto seen low turnouts and a general lack of enthusiasm all round.

We then complain of some sort of democratic deficit that we are complicit in creating by our lack of participation.

Let's turn our European electoral frown upside down, what?

We have to start taking this shit seriously if it is to become part of our political landscape.

I'm not voting for those unelected bureaucrats! I'm sick of being bullied by the EU, why don't we elect people that won't vote for our interests instead? That'll learn 'em!

How do I edit this?

Serious question: is there a political party in the UK (however marginal) that's properly pro-Europe? I was in Paris in February and there were a number of election posters for the European Federalist Party, who actually want to move the EU towards a federal state.

(Disclaimer, before anyone jumps down my throat: I'm not actually saying I'd vote for a party advocating a federal European state, just curious. It seems to illustrate a substantial difference in the Overton window between our two nations)

The Liberals and the Greens are generally the least anti-EU of the parties that might against stand the slightest chance of getting a candidate elected.

The EFP has two representatives in the UK, one in London and one in Wells, Somerset. I'm not sure if they've ever bothered to put up a candidate here. The general population would understand 'federalism' to mean surrendering to the Germans. Odd, really, with the halfhearted devolution of recent years, the UK has become more of a federal structure itself.

The UK's voting arrangements make it such that one generally votes against things - you often vote for the candidate most likely to beat the one that you like the least. It produces a national psyche that can look a little weird from outside.
