as anj gave birth to this pie initially, we have nurtured its growth, but i reckon the main goes to the king of castletown...lamb stew sounds like the way forward....simple, but hearty. i like it...
how very kind of you sir! not wishing to push this 'it was my idea in the first place so even though you may have some good suggestions i shall ignore them all and get a pie containing what i very well want it to' thang, i think a pastry crown atop the pie would be nize.

im reckonin the beakfast pie is another enitity entirely, yet to be determined on this here thread.

as for dessert, we could go traditional ie crumble, fruit, or really twist some melons man by summat else...i reckon after all that meat some fruit based excursion would be quite refreshing.

We need to register the Stafford Pie Company asap, before someone who hasn't spent the best part of 2 days at work discussing the contents at length does it, and badly..

considering the excitement this pie thread has caused, i thought there MUST be some kind of British Pie Society....so i googled it and could only find The Pork Pie Club

Whilst i cannot deny that a pork pie is a true pie, it's not the sort of pie that this discussion was invented for. Anyone find anything??

I have solved the problem.

I am hereby officially announcing the creation of "SPAS"

The Stafford Pie Appreciation Society.

Membership will be free, with two main types of membership
-Traditionalist, this is for enthusiasts of traditional pies like BBC and his Steak Pies
or
-Bespokers, for the forward thinking pie lovers.

Choose your membership and get in touch.

When membership has grown I shall be organising a pie fight to see which group is the best.

Good find Monquey....

JOIN THE PIE OF THE MONTH CLUB (or sign up a friend! it makes a great gift)

so, for the first time ever, you (a total stranger) can join this exclusive club. you'll get an official potmc membership badge and one pie recipe with art postcard every month for a year (look at the archives to see examples of previous art and recipes). Here's a disclaimer right off the bat: i can't guarantee that they will always be exactly on time, because it's just me, and I'm busy trying to write a dissertation, but you will get 12 cards a year. I promise. anyway. i'm only letting you join because of instense popular demand... so just remember that when you are feeling disgruntled.

25 bucks (after postage) just to cover expenses... its a deal, really.

ps. membership includes:
one beeautiful pie recipe card per month for a year
an official pie club coffee mug,
an official potmc 1" membership pin
official membership ID card
bragging rights

Sounds good to me!

There's plenty of pie-based resources available!
yeah, but they're talking yankie doodle dandy pies - i.e. sweet, dessert pies.. i quote:

"I recently acquired a great old cookbook... “The Historical Cookbook of the American Negroâ€, published in 1958 by the National Council of Negro Women. This amazing cookbook has been recently reprinted, so you can go check one out yourself"
