Whatever has gone on in there for the last few decades has not had any significant effect on the circles with which I interact.

Was it still in some sort of educational use?

The cherry tree on the Friars' corner is nice.

Collegiate I believe, the A levels that schools can't offer they clubbed together and taught there. Wonder where they'll go now?

with fewer 18 year olds I suspect it's less of an issue. I've had reason to be in the Chetwynd quite a lot over the last few years and I've never seen it full / well used and compared to other colleges or 6th forms in the area it always seemed a depressing place to be. I'm guessing courses that were taught there are probably replicated by the college (fashion for instance) so the County Council can say that selling it won't affect choice in the area.

My daughter did her flavour of Business Studies there, and my son his flavour of ICT. They both enjoyed it, to some extent because they were getting out of school and becoming less a "pupil" and more a "student".

I wonder if the tree will survive?

The spire has always struck me as an elegant thing.

I was once intending to use the 'slitty window' in the 'virtual treasure hunt' thread, but never quite got around to it.

I've seen lights on a few times when I've walked past it early in the mornings on my way to the train station - but no other signs of life in it.

I would like to see this building is sympathetically converted to residential dwellings, however it would also be nice for some space to be set aside for a community use as well.
