Skill to Pets at Home, Queensville Retail Park

Bought 2 guinea pigs on Sunday for my 6 year old daughter - on Monday, one of them had caught ringworm, apparently can happen if they don't cope well with the move from shop to home and don't settle in well. The staff let us choose 2 new guinea pigs, and advised we disinfect everything we had so the next 2 didn't get it and replaced everything we bought that couldn't be sprayed without even checking the receipt to see what we had bought, just took my word for it.

Not really relevant to the thread, but what happened to the first two guinea pigs? I assume the ringworm wasn't fatal, so did the shop take them back? What would they do with them?

They sent them to the vets to be treated - they gave us that option but I didn't really want to have them treated and sent back to me (would have taken 2 weeks) when I had a 6 year old really excited at having her first pets. They said when they come back from the vets they would go in their Adoption Centre for someone to take for free as they would grow too big to sell as new guinea pigs when they come back.

So if anyone wants free guinea pigs, try Pets at Home in about another week!

DB, sorry to be nosey - what package do you subscribe to?
hardly being nosey, homes :)

If you have the full shebang though, its about 2 months free which is ok but not my cup of tea....
no chance! i've got the basic package, plus variety package & music package (they're only an extra quid each).. dunno why i have the latter - i literally never have the music channels on.. i don't even know what channel range they're in! the missus has it on in the background now and again if she's in the house on her own and doing other things, i think..

so yeah, £20 a month basically..

£100 credit on the minimum package (think its £18 a month now) is equivalent to 5 and a bit months free which isn't bad at all....
i prefer to think of it as (nearly) a years's free HD - i.e. they charge you an extra tenner a month for HD, so to get £100 credit pretty much covers that..

but yeah, in reality the £100 has been credited to my account already, so what it actually means is that i will simply pay nothing at all for a few months, then it will be £30 a month from then on..

the HD box is just so gosh-darn sexy though, and the EPG is loads snappier (and just better in general).. would recommend it to anyone :)

The Police

For dealing with my house breaking and the assault of my house mate with a degree of efficiency and a level of service they should be proud of. The officer turned up when I asked them to (after work), spent a long time taking statements etc. and did not rush us, and then arrested the burglar, charged, cautioned and released her (in line with our wishes) within 24 hours.

Skill to Stafford Police, I am very impressed at the level of service received.

You can e-mail Inspector Rob Pilling, who is in charge of these policing matters. I'm sure he will appreciate it. www.staffordshire.police.uk

Good work however i hope the caution was not after a formal charge and summons or else she'll walk, something like this happened on 'The Bill' and boy did sarge Bob Cryer give it to Jim Carver......

This wasn't a straight forward burglary, it was a break in by my house mate's psychotic ex girlfriend. We requested that she wasn't put before a court and whilst it is the decision of the CPS, we didn't want anything more than a caution and for her to be told to not come to the property.

She has serious mental issues and a conviction leading to a custodial sentence wouldn't have achieved anything I don't think, it would have just cost a lot of money and required everyone to go to court. If she comes back to the property she will be arrested again. Sadly the police cannot refer her to any kind of psychiatric unit because she admitted to everything straight away and thus had no reason to claim mitigation. The way it was explained to me, if she han't pleaded guilty and was then found guilty in a court, and the defence was due to her mental state then it would have been an option to put her in hospital rather than prison.

Personally I don't want to see anything bad happen to her, she's nuts and everyone should stay away from her, but she won't admit she needs help and of course you cannot force it upon her. She spent a good 16 hours in the cells and being interrogated, which I am hoping would have got the message across.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as she doesn't interfere with my life, I am happy for her to go on living however she wants.

EDIT: Rest assured that if it was a proper burglar they would have been handed over to the police with less than 100% health and all charges pressed to the full extent.

1st you advised an elderly couple having difficulties during a cold spell and now you offer thoughtful and restrained response in a highly charged situation...... Damn! .....

They damage my dress! It happened exactly a few months ago, I brought my dress there and my partner's suit and tie. Suit and tie were ok, in my gown ruined flower and in a lace was a dark dust which i assume they did clean dress with suit to cut the cost for them! I was explained it was my fault because dress didn't have a lable! I did give clear instructions that dress should be clean in silk cycle, lady did note!!!

They are a bunch of tossers who would sell their own granny in my experience, I hate going there.
