I wouldn't send the complaint to Ben & Jerrys though.

why wouldn't you write a letter of complaint, i would have thought closing early for a two hours staff meeting and being rude when i asked for details of their complaints preceedure was worth a rant in a letter. I dont care if they are a multi million pound corporation as the upstart so proudly informed me

Because you may not get the response you want sending it to 'Ben & Jerrys'

Where are you talking about? The only Ben & Jerry's I'm aware of is the ice-cream

Massive skills to the Specialised store opp Asda. Found that my pedal and toe clips had all disintegrated as I left Asda so popped in there on the way home to buy some new pedals. Lovely chap helped me and I ended getting a free set of pedals with toes clips and straps both supplied and fitted for FREE!! Amazing, think I'm still in shock!!!

A few more to add,

Firstly, again to Heather at Inkpot Gallaria for topping up my Studio Ghibli work in progress piece I have on my calf. Her level of detail and passion especially for Ghibli means I will most certainly be going back.
I didn't have the heart to not pay at least a little something as their policy for top-ups is "free of Charge" so we agreed on materials costs.

Really friendly staff in there as well, I know some may look scary and intimidating, but really not.

Secondly, to Joe at the O2 store in the Guildhall. Had a small issue where my phone decided it didn't like it's screen anymore and splintered rendering it useless. Joe and the rest of the staff for that matter, despite being stupidly busy were extremely helpful, friendly and hooked me up with the New Xperia Z3+ and a host of other goodies as well.

Skill to Eccleshall Road Maccy D's litter picker. Saw him right up the other side of the Eccy road allotments this morning Nice to see the efforts spreading more that 20 of 30 feet either side of their entrance.

Well done to the litter picker, however I still find it annoying that some people can't / won't use a bin. Morons.

You're being far too generous: 'can't' does not apply. Twats who chuck their litter into shared public spaces are perfectly capable of not doing so, but they can't be arsed. Either it's somebody else's problem, or they can't see the ugliness they cause because their whole world is ugly, or they're having some sort of fit of utterly useless aggression against everyone who's ever tried to show them how to conduct themselves in a world that contains many other people besides themselves. And don't get me started on men who piss in bottles and leave that around for some other poor sod to pick up and dispose of.

I'd round them all up and make them spend a week with a National Trust volunteer work party, picking up other peoples' droppings and learning niceness and how to make lemon drizzle cake. That'd learn 'em.

Oh, and well done that McDonald's person.

While not to take away from your praise of the individual working in his McJob section Section 93 (1)
of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. states:

"
A principal litter authority... may, with a view to the prevention of accumulations of litter or refuse in and around any street or open land adjacent to any street, issue notices (“Street Litter Control Notices”) imposing requirements on occupiers of premises in relation to such litter or refuse..."

or in plain English...

"If there is a litter problem related to particular kinds of commercial premises, such as takeaway restaurants, cinemas, sports centres, service stations and others, then the local authority has powers to make Street Litter Control Notices."

(See this fascinating source material)

However, working in catering is as a whole a shitty, horrible job - be nice the people that make your food / coffee / serve you in shops

Wormella, I know it doesn't specifically state it above but could it also be used to force supermarkets to take responsibility for their lazy shoppers. The footpath link onto Friars Terrace and the road itself is full of litter.

I'm pretty sure it only applies to rubbish bearing the logo of a specific company - but I agree less rubbish all round would be better...

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I went to Germany in 1980 and was amazed just how clean the streets were, no litter to be seen anywhere. I was a lazy git when a teenager and couldn't be bothered to find a bin most of the time but I really noticed just how dirty the UK was when I came home and it really changed my attitude to dropping litter. Never drop anything now and if there aren't bins where I am, the waste comes home with me and goes in the bin at home.
