The Bridge to Nowhere has been opened. Just seen flags and balloons and jelly and ice cream on the bridge with a photographer taking a photo of kids posing in front of the bridge.

Enjoying a drop of red.
My main worry is that it can only be a matter of time before a cyclist/pedestrian is killed or seriously injured crossing the road just after the HBB. Even with cars being driven sensibly it would be a risk, never mind the speed some idiots drive over there regardless of what may be coming the other way.

Cars sliding back down the slope after stopping going up it upon meeting somebody coming over the bridge from Baswich was a regular event on frosty days in the '80s - attempting a sharp stop with some forward speed whilst going down it should cause some excitement, for sure.

it was the other knee! Gram
Both knees are visible in your picture.....

Ventured across Two Waters Way* on Saturday while the sun was shinning, very pleasant and I think I may actually use the bridge approx.4 times a year, which has increased from my predicted 2 times a year.

1.7million and, for the over speedy teen cyclists or dopey old'uns, they can't put safety gates (or whatever they're called) upon leaving TWW on to Baswich Lane?

Almost witnessed someone getting run-over crossing from canal side to (Two Water Ways) bridge side, yesterday morning.

I wonder who's going to be the first unlucky one?

Oh that's not nice.

Can somebody tell me whether cyclists are supposed to use pelican crossings as cyclists rather than as pedestrians? Not something that gets my inner commissar unduly steamed up, but it just looks quite smug and cheeky when a Lycra monster such as the above stops an entire highway then sails across it with bum held high.

Most crossings are now Toucan crossings - for pedestrians and cyclists.

I love the naming of Toucan crossings, it's genius, because a pelican crossing is for pedestrians:

A toucan crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing found in the United Kingdom that also allows bicycles to be ridden across. Since two-can, both pedestrians and cyclists, cross together, the name toucan was chosen.
