Electric cars.

My wife is of the opinion that nothing happens in the uk unless someone directly makes a profit.
Been thinking about this a little more. This weekend we were in the middle of nowhere in a forest, we didn't see another human for 2 hours, we were the only car parked there, yet there were 2 toilets a sheltered seating area and a stone BBQ with metal grills etc. There was nothing to buy, nothing to conceivably be charged for, yet it was there. Lots of places that have seating dotted around, like some of the parks, also have bins next to each lot of seating. There is nothing to buy, you aren't funding the rubbish being taken away, it's just done anyway.

Same in the Azores, most beauty spots have BBQs. These are again middle of nowhere, just places with nice views and again literally nothing to conceivably spend money on, yet the local council still built them.

I'm having trouble thinking of UK equivalents? We have the town park, but they seem to have given pride of place to a cafe and parking costs you.

I'd be more concerned why the wife wants to take you to a forest in the middle of nowhere!!!!!

I think she mentioned something about life insurance last time I met her 😂😂😂😂

Saw an all electric Royal Mail van on the Eccleshall Road today, first one I've seen in Stafford. I presume they've installed some chargers at the local delivery office.

Charging points at St Pancras in 1917.

I'm not sure if they're still there, but the plugs are probably different now, anyway.

Im somewhat perplexed but completely unsurprised that Stafford doesn't have a Tesla supercharger. My brother has a Tesla and informs me the closest one is Trentham? I had no idea charging one of these cars was so difficult.

I know there are some 50kw chargers dotted around but the closest one to me is Premier Inn and they only have one which could well be in use.

The one at Holmcroft library is 7kw. What's even the point in them unless you live by the library and can leave the car all night?

As you can probably tell this is my first and possibly last experience with charging electric cars and it's not been a positive one! No wonder the environment is going to shit and its not in this instance because the Tories are allowing raw sewage to be spewed across all our beaches :(

Firstly, electric cars are not the answer for the environment, the way we (as in just about all European countries) generate our electricity. Never mind the precious metals used to make up the batteries.

Secondly there are 6 Ionity 350kw chargers by the new Starbucks off Redhill Roundabout, up your end of town.

Thirdly, your are right that there aren't enough chargers. However, Stafford isn't as bad as many other places, especially the further north you go.

Thankyou. These Ionity chargers don't show on the Tesla app or Zap? Strange.

I don't use Starbucks so would never have found this out.

Cheers

Can you use all six at the same time? That would be two megawatts, enough for around one to two thousand houses, depending upon poshness.

It's been just over a year since I last owned a Tesla but it was always the case back then that it only ever gave you info about the Tesla network. @Cue can update as to the current status, I'm sure.

Personally I find all the UK charger apps to be on the poor side but to be fair, Zapmap does show the Ionity chargers at Redhill, I've just checked.

There are two chargers, though I don't know of what type, in the Knot and Plough's car park.

There's some on the long stay across the way from here, no idea how many, or who for. But the local pondlife seem to have left them alone, up till now.

Nothing coming up for that on Zapmap but if they're like the rest of the council offering they'll only be 7kw, so only good as an emergency, if they work and if some twat in an ICE car hasn't parked at them, as they are perfectly entitled to according to council rules...
