Fuel Wankers.

Thanks to Rishu Sunak I will now be saving a huge £3.30 when I fill up my car. I’ve also cancelled Netflix so I should be able to buy a house this time next week
Don't forget the huge 1p off income tax that's coming in, in 2024. Because that helps those in need right now doesn't it!

And of course the fact that Sunak has, oh so generously, put everyone with an energy account in debt with his compulsory loan, he's so generously given us.

Tosser!

And those that don't have an energy account but will in a couple of years in debt too. It's a money making scheme.

Compared to 6:30am yesterday. Texaco by the jail haven't reduced their prices... diesel is still 179.9 and BP on Foregate have put theirs up 4p... diesel is now 189.9.

From 6pm last night at £1.74 per litre, your Government now takes 82p in taxes

2p a litre more in taxes, at pre-war prices

Duty isn't paid at the pump unlike VAT it's paid at the refinery. Any fuel leaving the refinery after 6pm will pay lower duty but the forecourt isn't obliged to pass the saving on. Saying that at least 2 major supermarkets passed the saving on instantly despite have purchased the fuel currently at the forecourt at the higher rate.

I knew they weren't obliged to pass on the saving. So it'll end up like when the price of oil changes. Instant price increase, but takes forever for it to be reduced.

Yeah pretty much, whenever the government do a direct-to-supplier grant prices suddenly skyrocket

Podpoint EV charger installations used to be strangely expensive for running a bit of cable.

A reduction in fuel duty is not designed to benefit the motorist. It's purpose is to benefit oil companies and allow them to make more profit.

Nothing this government do is designed to help anyone other than big business and the government itself.

They up the price between deliveries, won't lower it though. I see the one at pennycroft was still £1.90 last night.

Yes they do, market forces? Just make sure you always fill at the cheapest station. Although if you want to reduce fuel spend eco driving would probably net larger gains than 10ppl off fuel.

I get about 60 to the gallon so already drive fairly economically, had it as high as 68 in the summer, although thats the dash readout whereas comparison at the pump makes it usually about 2 below that.

Are there many people about these days who don't really pay for their own motor fuel?

They just pass on the receipts...
Pre COVID all of my fuel was expensed. Now I don't go in to an office it's dried up. That all said I went in today so that will help.

Would you get hassled, if you were generally using suppliers with noticeably higher prices?
