Coincidence?........Raising the pension age who's paying for this?
They don't want to commute ?"HS2’s HQ is moving from London to Birmingham, which has upset staff who don’t want to live in the West Midlands."
They don't want to commute ?
Silly really, you can already get to Birmingham quicker than commute across a lot of London. Perhaps their unwillingness to commute should be taken into consideration before we build anything else? Or maybe, just maybe, they could employ some northerners?
2b or not 2b, that is the question?
2b or not 2b, that is the question?
Even 2a is a long way from certain.
As for HS3, they're having a larf!
Any chance of us getting a garden bridge over Lake Sandon now?It looks like HS2 phases 2a and 2b are to be delayed (government speak for cancelled).
That will leave us with just phase 1, the London to Birmingham section with the link onto the West Coast mainline at Handsacre (for services to Stafford and the north).
So, HS2 will not cut through the north east side of Stafford (for the foreseeable future), but Stafford will still get the 'benefit' of the high speed services.
It remains to be seen just how quickly they still intend to deliver phase 1, but it is potentially good news for Stafford, as it now looks like the bypass line around Stafford (phase 2a) will not be going ahead. The consequence of that will be a major increase in high speed services through Stafford, potentially increasing the town's importance as a 'railway town'.I'm assuming this will effect Stafford plans - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...prepare-to-deliver-more-bad-news-on-timetable
I believe that I predicted that a long time ago.Someone will make a fortune buying compulsory purchased land up cheap.
No you'll still have to use the ferry serviceAny chance of us getting a garden bridge over Lake Sandon now?
The whole point of HS2 was that the existing network cannot handle increased capacity so there's not likely to be any significant increase in high speed services. It remains to be seen just how quickly they still intend to deliver phase 1, but it is potentially good news for Stafford, as it now looks like the bypass line around Stafford (phase 2a) will not be going ahead. The consequence of that will be a major increase in high speed services through Stafford, potentially increasing the town's importance as a 'railway town'.......
Just remember, don't pay the ferryman until he gets you to the other side.No you'll still have to use the ferry service
