I spent some time around Loch Lomond this year and knew that I had to return to see other parts of the country. The plan is to start on the east coast and then over to Fort William before taking in one of the west coast islands.
The West coast is far more dramatic than the East coast in my opinion but I would also recommend going to Braemar and Ballater via Glenshee.

We hired a boat from Laggan a few years ago and sailed up to Inverness and back down to Fort William. I'm not sure what the views are like from the roads but the scenery was awesome from the middle of the lochs.

Also worth taking the train from Glasgow to Mallaig for the views.

Looking at Norway. Plus there's talk of a motorhome purchase.
Nor way would I go anywhere that cold.

Yes, the train is wonderful for the views.
Ten years ago a night in Glasgow and two in Inverness got me on the lines to Mallaig, Oban, Thurso and Kyle of Lochalsh ( each £19 return on 'Club 55' tickets ). I did similar in 1984 and hope to again before I'm too old.

I‘m not really into any sports, especially where I would be wet, cold, or uncomfortable.

So it came a complete surprise to me when about 5 years ago I discovered and absolutely loved The Banff Mountain Film Festival awards. I’ve watched every year at Stafford Gatehouse.

It‘s basically an evening of short films , some 5 minutes , some 20 minutes of people doing extreme sports and their story behind why they are doing what they are doing. The cinematography is breathtaking.

It’s not just about mountain climbing or skiing but encompasses cycling , kayaking, tightrope walking and much more, but the whole evening is awe inspiring.

Next one is February 21st and I cant recommend it enough.

Here‘s a short clip, just click on “Watch the trailer”

Norway trek booked, we're going to have another week to do stuff there, was thinking of fjords from Bergen but if anyone has any recommendations do let me know.

Tightrope Walking :o I can't even balance on a big wooden floor in the Zumba stretching/balance exercises , I wouldn't last on step one a rope! 😂

And my one experience in a mates yacht on Blithfield Resevoir , in our younger days, put me off water sports/sailing for good . Didn't enjoy it one bit as spent the whole time on pins ducking the sail swinging across, scared stiff of capsizing.

No plans for us yet for 2024 , got to wait to see what hubbys cardiac consultant decides to do before booking anything,

We’re just back from holibobs.

We wanted to be away for New Year but as we’ve done a fair bit of flying this year we decided to do a cruise from Southampton on the P&O Iona as recommended by @Trumpet and also a friend of ours.

Oh my goodness, the ship was fabulous, food was great, entertainment was great, we just absolutely loved it.

New Years Eve was tremendous, everyone dressed up to the nines, such a great atmosphere.

Weather wasn’t great, in fact we were stuck in Southampton docks for 2 days, we couldn’t leave because of high winds and storms, when we did leave we had force 9 gales which made walking round the ship a bit tricky.

Everything carried on as normal , the entertainers were laughing about wobbling on the stage every time the ship tilted, but we just got on with it.

They put on so many shows every night, amazing, one of the best cruises that we’ve enjoyed.
