Glad it went well.
Did you try any of the speciality restaurants?

We did and we booked several before we went.

Epicurean 3 times, Sindhu once but wished we’d gone more, The Olive Grove twice. We’d booked The Beach House but cancelled it, it felt too much like just eating in the buffet, albeit with white tablecloths . Although other people we spoke to really enjoyed it.

We also booked The Limelight Club and had a lovely meal and entertainment in there.

We didn’t care for the main restaurants much, service a bit slow so only ate there about 3 times in the 2 weeks.
A couple of times we didn’t have time for a proper sit down affair (too much going on that we wanted to see) so we went to the Quays for fish and chips.

@staffordjas I remember that you said that your friend had been on The Iona.
She really is a fabulous ship, we loved her and are looking to go again.

The food, oh my goodness, you really needed so much willpower.
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner then later the midnight buffet. :munch:

Anyone on here been to been Seahouses?

No, but that area is something that is very much on our “to do” list in the motorhome this year , all up there, Northumberland, Holy Island, so any tips would be welcome.

Likewise. I've found a house at Seahouses, but know nothing about the area.
It's about a hour and half/ two hours drive to peruse places in Scotland, which the Nephew and myself are quite happy with.

Not for about 10 years or so.
It’s a lovely area with lots of places to visit. It’s easy (ish) to get to just off the A1. It’s an area that doesn’t seem to get a lot of publicity outside the north east but has lovely beaches, countryside etc not to mention the people. There’s loads of places to visit up & down the coast as well as inland, too many to mention really but there’s deffo something for everyone. We’ve actually been looking again for this year. I’d recommend a week there but you’d hardly scratch the surface in that time.
P. S. If you’re thinking of Holy Islsnd (Lindisfarne) check the tidal causeway crossing times here.

It will only be for a week, nephew refuses point blank to take more than a week off work - place will crumble without him, like yeh right!

I’ve recently read “The Rising Tide” by Ann Cleeves, a Vera book which was set on Holy Island, and then shortly after reading the book it was on TV about Christmas time.

Of course, all the Vera’s are set in Northumberland, it looks glorious, I've heard so many good things about the place.

I've just started that!

Cragside is a National Trust very worth visiting. Chillingham Castle is apparently very ghostly, and Craster is brilliant for seafood.

The plan this year is a week in Wells Next To The Sea and then a week in Scotland, both in the motorhome. Last night we talked about either a week in Brixham again or a return to Weymouth. Will decide on that later today.

I don't think the Norkolkians would take kindly to the extra "To".

I hadn't posted on the holiday thread lately , and never heard of Seahouses.
But scrolling down a news website last night suddenly got to a feature on places of interest in and around Seahouses :strange: 😂

As a previous resident of Norfolk I am doing them a favour by adding a to. If any of them are searching for the name of a place spelled incorrectly I will apologise to them, but till then it will.have the additional to.

So adding a "To" isn't why you had to leave Norfolk ?

Norway trek booked, we're going to have another week to do stuff there, was thinking of fjords from Bergen but if anyone has any recommendations do let me know.
I hope you are millionaires, easily the most expensive country I've ever visited, and by some margin. Made Sweden look cheap lol
