I’ve finally got the back to school stuff organised, I really can’t believe the price of stuff. Both girls are moving up to new schools so it was completely new uniforms needed.

But….. both already have football boots and shin pads so there’s a saving of £50 easily. Youngest has a good pair of trainers for PE and we were given a blazer, we’ve also Facebook scrounged a couple of school branded rugby tops and youngest already has a good school coat. Easily another £100 saved.

Somehow after adding it all up I’ve spent £481 and I do actualy still need to get eldest a winter coat. Bags from Amazon, basics from Asda, shoes from M&S, stationery from the works and sports stuff from sports direct. I’ve not gone mad with expensive gear and designer labels, somehow this is just what stuff costs????

I laughed at the woman from the school shop because I thought she was joking when she told me the price, three ties, two black skirts, three Pe T-shirt’s and a blazer……..£168

Im grateful that it’s an annoyance and I’m not sacrificing food/bills to cover it but I really feel for those that are struggling.

The schools should be ashamed, a pair of black leggings and a plain white polo should suffice but no they demand this and that, eldest daughter even has to have branded skirts now at three time the price of ASDA.

Son had to have an expensive school Rubgy shirt when he started Walton . I bought it down to his ankles, so it would last til he left. Cost a bloody fortune, and hardly used.
I was amazed , when I worked in the school, how many were just left slung on the hall floor at lunchtimes and ended up unclaimed in lost property!

Was that the two-layer, red and black one?

I have two of them - £1 each from the Red Cross shop - they are indestructible - and very warm.

Yes that's the one.

Couldn't give ours to the charity shop afterwards , as I'd plastered his name in marker pen all over it in case it got lost . Infact everything had his name plastered over it , as we couldn't afford to splash out on replacements. He never lets me forget the time he was kneeling in assembly in primary school. Everyone behind found it most hysterical seeing his first name on one shoe sole , and surname on the other.🤣

Still got plastic containers , and glass casserole dishes from cookery lessons with his name on. Must have been a good marker pen to last after all the washing for 20 odd years !

Been treated to the loud music from Wootown Festival at the nearby Sixways stadium all day as the sound is carrying . I like Drum & Bass for a short time , but getting a bit monotonous now after nearly 6 hours and it's on til 10pm.

Thought it must have been an event at the Motocross track at first , until I heard "Put your hands in the air" , and imagined the bikers flying through the air riding no-handed then it clicked....

I've had a day, gang.

Up all night trying to comfort my 13 year old budgie who is unable to sleep due to a near-constant twitch he's developed. Wanted to take him to our vet for an emergency appointment today to discuss end of life care and they refused to see him because the practitioner on duty is terrified of birds.

I can't even.

One of mine had a name on the collar seam, but it's worn off now and it was of a colonial origin.

Probably about as good a shirt as you could hope for, when standing about in drizzle, up to your ankles in mud, or 'Rugby', as it is known.

Hoping there's no cctv at this bus stop. Having a bop about to the festival music whilst waiting for the bus into town 🤣

Bearing in mind the eldest is 40 this year, I paid, I think £25 for a reversible rugby top, same for a sweatshirt, and roughly £20 for a school jumper, all so he could go to Blessed Bills. Normal bottle green wouldn't do. He even had to have reversible socks for sports!! The likes of which I think I saw once a term for washing. No2 son went a year later and we had to fork out the same amount for him too.
Daughters uniform was off the planet for cost, and to add insult to injury, we were expected to buy her a blazer that would be worn for just 3 months due to her leaving school. Couldn't pass anything down to the youngest because he was smaller than the other boys when he eventually rocked up there.

You may well know someone who's been supping with me. :D

( at the moment hubby's pulled at the bar...don't know if the bloke knows he's with me 🤣 but he's shared shots with him )

BTW @Thehooperman when you were in my neck of the woods last week, did you go into maccies by the racecourse/ cricket ground by any chance????
Someone in blue top was watching me rather Interestingly as I was in a blind panic at the till getting son ( the manager) to sort out my order on the app.....money taken off , but my phone froze out before order was complete and only seconds before breakfast orders closed ) could only happen to me trying to show I was clever using technology to order instead of going to counter...)

No sorry wasn't me but we weren't too far away.

We had breakfast in the Premier Inn and didn't go to Maccie D's.
