Beauty of being where we are now, can get one in a couple of minutes to pick us up from home, and queuing up in various places in town to bring us back.
That's how it was where I used to live... And if you couldn't book one then you could hail a black cab as they were everywhere...

We've quite often had customers in sainsburys that have arrived by taxi, but haven't booked one back and then have to wait hours I done times think it can't be real, clearly not..... I'm just being lazy, the carer and I alternate weekends taking minime to work for 6.30am on a Saturday & Sunday.... Its my weekend to be mums taxi but I'm on holiday & hoped I could cheat by ordering her a taxi...... No such luck.

I don’t use taxis* very often mainly because I can’t get one when needed. They’re almost as bad as public service.
* good old predictive text.

Una vez usé un taco taco con un motor de seis litros para un viaje de 10 minutos. Cuando empecé tenía 24 años, cuando terminé tenía 57.

Has Sainsburys still got the free phone for Westside Taxis ?

I know fifteen years ago the nearby taxi rank on Broad Street was sometimes full at certain times of the day so your customers "then have to wait hours" could be 'the wrong time of day' e.g. the school run of Stafford now has less taxis ot both.

I caught a bus from the end of our road yesterday , they run about every 15 minutes (some moaners were having a right go at the driver in the bus station as I got on the other week! Apparently they think that's not good enough.Nearly caused a riot when I said I thought it was a fantastic service. :o:lol: ).
A posh mini bus pulled up at my stop as I was waiting for the 'normal' bus , about 5 minutes before that was due.Said it was an additional bus route into town and I could still use my free bus pass on it. (He's got a hand held scanner which beeped , so looked a bit official....) . Messaged son that I may well have been kidnapped as I sat alone behind the driver. 😂

He stopped for a couple waiting in a bus stop en-route, who looked amazed and refused to get on. An old man closer to town did eventually get on , catching my eye and whispering "Blimey! Never had one of these stop before". Had my own free chauffeur most of the way , and thankfully he didn't go whizzing off down the motorway with me 🤣.
Not sure this photo , that I sent to son of the back of the drivers head incase I did a disappearing act , would have helped find me ..

Reminds me I think of PMT in the Potteries many years ago answering a complaint about their busses running late with that the problem was from having to keep stopping for passengers.

Sitting in the kitchen having a late lunch, due to pressure of work, I suddenly felt that I was being watched.

My line manager had come in to remind me of my duties and to explain that any breaks allowed are merely concessionary.

We had a brief discussion about my terms and conditions, as I ushered him back outside through the conservatory.

I went ahead with my plans to pick up a (non-electric) scooter a month ago. They're really fun, however the thing that has surprised me the most is learning that not only do we have a dominant hand but we also have a dominant leg! You have to switch which you propel yourself with and the propelling foot sits on tip-toes above the back wheel, with this I discovered my left leg is far less coordinated than my right.

Try braking with your left leg when driving a car - be sure to do this at a low speed and in a safe area, though...

This popped up in my FB memories, thought I'd share it here to canvas opinion:

A friend of mine is causing quite a stir around town with her parking. She has a tiny Smart Car and often parks sideways, with the bumper to the curb and the front facing out into the road. She does this mostly to get into smaller spaces but also because it's much quicker to drive in and out.

Thing is it's completely legal so long as she's within the bounds of the parking area and yet and yet pink-faced men are constantly sending photos of her parking in to local groups and pages and losing their rag.

I don't drive and think that most people who do seem to turn into angry psychopaths as soon as they get behind the wheel so anything that annoys the motoring community is always good with me but what say you?

I've often doubted if those forever criticising other motorists driving, or parking, are any better drivers than the rest of us.
And many of those self righteous drivers believe they're exempt from speed limits.

Good use of space IMO
My thoughts too. I've often thought that you could get 2, side by side in the spaces round Castletown.
Not that I would have one, There's a Smart Arse parked up here at my sisters, it's sooooo tiny inside! My claustrophobia was terrible when we went to Market Drayton in it.
