Noticed this morning hair loss has started to kick in from the chemo. :( This has come as a bit of a shock, didn't think it would come that quickly. So I'm going to get my Yul Brynner moment it would appear. I've cheered myself up a bit by going online and ordering a hat, in order to turn it into a Raylan Givens moment.
Even so after 50 years as a 'long haired yobbo' it's going to be a bit of a wrench. I'm bloody dreading next weeks chemo session.
SHIT !!! 😔
The wife had 2 courses of chemo where her hair thinned. Full hair loss wasn't expected but the most recent course which finished in may was on a different type of chemo and it all came out.

She got a wig which helped to a point but you still get idiots staring. Hair is growing back and is currently in the "short fluffy" stage...

Hope you get through it in one piece and it starts growing back!!

Enjoying a drop of red.
Finding myself with a morning with no work on my hands and the sun shining, I thought I'd set out on a decent ride on the fun motorbike. Eventually found myself in Melbourne (not the Aussie one, now that would be a ride out!). Melbourne being Melbourne it would be rude and seriously remiss not to call into Melbourne Delicatessen & Kitchen, not only because they serve a damn good Latte but also to stock up on goodies to save me having to cook tonight. Duly stocked up with piles of goodies, I returned home following a slightly different route that's not quite as twisty and quicker as I didn't want the sun and heat ruining the food.

The afternoon was spent, in between taking phone and video calls, detailing the living daylights out of the car I'm taking to an evening track do at Donnington with p jr tomorrow evening. It's a one make event where every nook and cranny of your car gets looked at by other owners and the piss taken if it's not all up to snuff, so can't be having that. It's not really a track car and certainly not suitable for Donnington in any competitive way but it's a fun evening and if the BBQ afterwards is anything like the two events we went to last year, definately worth not having any lunch for, so there's space to pig out on later.

Even though the sun had gone in, cleaning the car was a blooming hot affair and required a couple of ice cold beers in order to complete to the required standard. When Mrs p brought jr home from school, he took one look at the car and said 'I thought you were supposed to be cleaning that this afternoon, what went wrong?'

Little bastard...

Today I went round in circles with a colleague - I would equate it to ‘trying to make a cup of tea’ but before we could do that my delightful coworker insisted we found out which cow the milk came from.

Essentially it doesn’t flipping matter, it doesn’t affect the outcome and it’s a giant waste of time that I don’t have. 🤯😫

You! , if you ever need anything, you know you can ask us lot... Anything... You were all so brilliant when I was ill & in hospital this time last year, so I know what we can all do when needed. Anything, and I mean anything, even the supply of extra tin foil for your hats.... Just tell us, please x

Son's had his concert/ Hotel stay cancelled 3 times due to ' covid' . Re-arranged again , now the bloody train strikes might mean it still doesnt happen!. Added to that he'd planned a few days in London for his girlfriends b'day next week , so train strike's scuppered some of his plans that he's already paid out for.
Last gig he was stuck doing various detours all day across country trying to get back with disruption due to storms. Ended up final leg sharing a long taxi drive with other train passengers with the train coming to a halt after a tree blocked the line.

I'm sticking to driving everywhere!

Goodluck getting to your gigs and back @SketchyMagpie

Thanks, I've figured out a way I might be able to get to them (essentially coming back to Stafford rather than going direct, as there are trains from here but not from where I'm going) but it will involve doing loads of trains on a day when we've been told not to travel and I might wind up stranded somewhere so it is in the hands of fate, I guess.

Starting to realise how much of a disconnect there is between prices over here in Latvia and back in the UK. Bought the FiL a bigger TV yesterday, thats not so huge a difference really, basically a direct comparison between GBP and EUR. They are light and easily shipped though, we just got him some second hand furniture for the living room and it cost probably 3x what you'd pay in the UK. An electric recliner was 90 euros and it's cover has seen better days, admittedly has 3 independent motors so can raise the seat hight on its own, but even so it's looking old. An ikea chair was 60, it's 150 new but again it's looking very faded albeit in good condition generally. This is stuff we see as throwaway in the UK.

Then there's food, imported strawberries are 3 euros a kg, and they're lovely. Still no idea what half the vegetables are!

And he’s off again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just saw a passenger plane fly by rather low with a fighter jet close to each wing tip?
This?...

Took off from Latvia, traveled through 4 other countries before landing in Bulgaria, then the pilot & staff dissapeared before the authority's got there.

Today was warm, but not hot, and breezy, but not windy, so I decided to head out and fill in some more roads on my 'cycle every road in the vicinity' quest.

The first section involved some loops around this church and involved passing it twice. I decided to have my lunch in the rather nice churchyard. According to a survey in the 19th century, the oldest gravestone with an English inscription on the whole island is here, but, 150+ years on, it can't be read now, and it's not even certain which of the illegible stones it is.

The gate was 'locked', although it could be opened without the use of a key, but I elected to use the nearby stile.

This was not straightforward - that wall is 7'6" high and I doubt the vicar would attempt it in his cassock on a windy day.

Leaving there to pursue my quest, I passed this rather alarming farm.

Other things were noted on the way.

Monkey puzzle trees are popular in the area, but few are as grand as this one.

And 'as rough as a ploughed field' may not mean quite as rough as this. It must be a serious machine that did it - the stone to the right of the branch in the centre is about 18" long, for scale - and there were much bigger ones around, too.

This was me, this time last year..... Seriously ill & stuck in hospital with kidney failure & a terrible chest infection.

I just want to say thank you all sooooo much for all you did for me, for all my messages, cards & gifts, I'm sure you all really don't know just how much it meant to me. You are an amazing & very special bunch of people & don't you forget it! ❤️❤️❤️

Going either stoooopid or senile! Struggling up from Aldi both hands full with a carrier bag and big bottle of milk., put them down in a shady patch under a tree while I answered my phone. . Eventually dawned on me why I was struggling less as I got nearer home....I'd left the bottle under the tree, . Glad it was still there by the time I got back to it , but felt a bit of an idiot with all the school run traffic watching me pick it up :embarrass:
