New Police & Crime Commissioner - elections in November

He is part of a political party, so we should expect him to act in the interests of his party rather than his constituents. Just look at jeremy lefraud, he regularly misses commons discussions on subjects yet still feels well versed enough in their subject matter to vote in line with his party in the commons. They are puppets, elected simply because the other puppets were somehow worse.

Of course I base this on my entirely uneducated stance, having not the foggiest what a police commisioner blokey does as I've never been told. Just like most people I know, I have no idea how powerful these peoples remit is. I'm hoping its not much, as I don't want the police siding on political matters rather than legal ones.

When I opened the door to my polling station I heard a small scream. It turned out I had startled the two very nice ladies managing the crowds. I lecture my stepdaughter on the responsibility that she has to use her vote and why "I don't understand politics, it's boring" is neither cute nor cool. So I voted. Although in this case, I don't understand the politics and it's boring.

The people in the polling station I went to were suitable suprised that someone had gone in to vote, got quite flustered trying to tick the right place on the voters register. My partner's daughter went to a different polling station and woke up the people there.

At least partner's son has a sense of civic duty, he was away and arranged a proxy vote so someone could spoil a ballot paper on his behalf.

I have seen various estimates for the cost of running the PCC elections, and all of these estimates comfortably exceed the amount that Children In Need will raise....

Perhaps we should have run a Commissioners In Need event?

BREAKING NEWS
Labour's Ron Hogg is elected on the first count in Durham.
Possibly another Boss Hogg in Devon and Cornwall - t.b.c. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19521181
Yes! We now have two Boss Hoggs - Tony and Ron - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-20375644

You could hardly make it up..

But, at least, we can now look forward to some rather more exciting editions of Police! Camera! Action!

I haven't been through every list, but I'm still hoping for a Commissioner Gordon.

Only 200k wasted round here then, no great loss. Well, apart from the ongoing 100k/year alleged cost of employing these people. Seemed quite a good bet really, 5k stake and a 50% chance of regaining 20x that a year.

I'd imagine they'd all have had to attend a 2 week residential course in the Bahamas for that. It's a hard life...

For information - Those manning the frenatic polling stations were not all Local Gov types

If you fancy a earning few quid for next the election farce - just apply within

Downside - and it could be an horrendous one - spending 15 hours in the company of one other person you have never met before and might even be a Conservative Party member who wears a padded waiscoat and is called Mrs Frobisher

You make it sound so tempting.
