Can’t help thinking we wouldn’t be facing any of this if Vlad’ was just a few inches taller.

Could there be a call across the free world for volunteers - like the Spanish Civil War ?

I wonder if we’ll ever see Vlad’ placed under house arrest - or being dragged around Red Square behind an old Toyota pick-up ?

The members of that so called ’Security Committee’ (that were ranged in a semi-circle whilst being humiliated by Vlad’ sat at a desk half a mile away) all looked extremely apprehensive and scared on being told what Vlad’s plans were. I wonder if any of them - contemplating years of Russia’s global ostracisation as a result of his actions - are planning a coup ?

If so they need to do it quickly before he gives the order to nuke Ukraine and wider Europe.

Boots are running out of Iodine tablets.

Whilst they owe all their stolen wealth to him, he serves them little purpose now, other than to devalue their ill-gotten gains. They have no use for him, but they also know that he has no use for them. Anybody breaking ranks is taking a big personal risk. If they were, collectively, confident of success, I suspect they would have a go, or persuade somebody else to...

As for firing the missiles, it isn't just him pressing a red button, a lot of other people have to agree to perform their function in the chain - or be made to agree.

I’m no military strategist but I would’ve thought a 40 mile Russian convoy on its way to Kiev would be a turkey shoot for Ukrainian fighters hiding in the bush armed with anti-tank weapons and grenade launchers (?)

And, while I’m on - I understand Stafford used to be on Russia’s ‘to nuke’ list during the cold war because of 16mu. Does anyone know if we’re still on the list ?

Stafford used to be scheduled for quite a significant delivery, not just the RAF, but disruption of the motorway and railways, too.

Beacon Barracks may be felt less of a threat and the motorway and railways are disrupting themselves now...

I'm sure the Russians would have deployed troops to protect the armed column. However using Turkish drones to attack the front of the column would slow them up and give the Russians an indication they're in for a battle as they bypass the burn't out armour, hopefully demoralising them rather than building their resolve.
The Kremlin learn't a lot from the battles in Grozny, firstly the difficulty they had mobilising units to fight against their Soviet citizens hence the military exercise in Belarus so the army was available to attack without mobilisation. They also learn't the lesson of being ambushed in the streets where they couldn't fight back as they couldn't move their gun barrels hence the use of light mechanised units to date. This heavy use of artillery and humiliation of the Russian armed forces is considered to be partly attributable to Yeltsin being ousted and the unfortunate rise of Putin.

International Beer Judges Announcement

The Community of International Beer Judges adopted the following resolution on Feb. 27, 2022:

  1. The International Beer Judges strongly condemn the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. The entire world is facing great challenges that can only be overcome with international cooperation. Our community experiences at every beer competition how people from all countries can successfully work together in harmony, respect and shared enthusiasm. The invasion of Ukraine tramples all these values underfoot.
  2. We will not participate in any beer competition in Russia or Belarus until further notice.
  3. We call on all international beer competitions to remove Russian beers and beers from Belarus from the competition and not to evaluate them. We will welcome back those brewers who are working for peace and an end to aggression, as soon as the leadership of their country has stopped behaving in such an inhuman manner.
  4. We call on all players from the beer world to limit cooperation with Russian companies and suppliers to the absolute minimum and to end it in the medium term.
  5. We are in solidarity with all people from the beer world in Russia and Belarus who are working for peace and ending aggression.
The International Beer Judges group consists of over 500 professional Beer Judges from around the world. It provides the majority of the judges at the various Beer Competitions around the world. Among them are also members from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

With this resolution we want to show our solidarity with Ukraine on the one hand, but on the other hand we want to remind from our own experience that people from all countries of the world can work together in harmony.

Please spread this resolution in the beer world of all countries.

Locate and destroy , is probably the most favoured option for NAT0 given the current Russian mode of attack.

Abramovich selling Chelsea was likely fallout, giving the proceeds to Ukraine was not. The oligarchs backing away from putin or just self preservation from someone that won't feel the loss?

But he hasn't sold Chelsea, he's just deflected any sanctions away from the club.

He'll be back when this all blows over!!!!
