Stafford Traffic.

I do recall reading that our county council mooted the idea of congestion charging…
They create the congestion by building too many homes where the roads were already too busy, not having a park and ride scheme and having inefficient traffic lights with odd choices eg. Tesco lights, the left turn into the site should be a give way.

Sorry but, who on earth would want a park and ride scheme in Stafford?

If you live here you'd either drive, walk or take the bus. If you don't live here there's precious little to make you want to come to shop here when you can go to Telford or MacArthur Glenn in Cannock or Lichfield.

It's not for shopping, for working. If you worked in the centre then you'd park on the outskirts and get the bus in. There are roads near me with cars parked on in the day. I've seen people park on the road and then walk to the bus, so people are doing it already. Except at the moment they're restricting traffic flow on roads with their parking.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Trouble is, there probably aren't enough people to make that economically viable, and even if there were, these are folk willing to seriously inconvenience themselves for the sake of a parking charge, so how many do you think would be willing to put their hand in their pocket for a park and ride charge?

Besides people come to work from all directions so having a park and ride at one end of town or another is of no use to anybody else.

Whilst driving back from collecting a cat we entered the M6 at J12 for one junction, watched a marked police call pull over a fancy land rover defender, that had a dodgy number plate format, but upon further investigation we found out they didn't have any tax.... Very funny,!!

I saw an odd one yesterday looking like R RO55ERS as if eight digits when they're only seven.

People with dodgy numberplates or no tax don't realise there's ANPR cameras about and it will call out the Police automatically.

Bit late when they've passed the camera and buggered off somewhere else.

Well, the one example I was told about was on the way into Birmingham on the A38. I imagine there's multiple cameras. Worked with someone who was a special in Birmingham who told me about it.

They do have anpr cameras monitoring traffics coming into Brum for the congestion charge so the data may be used to check car tax as well....

Upon arriving in riverside car park this morning I was bemused to see the Mercedes’ parked in the junction. Even more so to find that somebody else had mistaken it for a space too. Not even a shortage of space either 🤨
