So the closure was advertised, with buses diverted, from the beginning of July but it's only happened two months later at the beginning of September ?
Nope this is another phase of the disruption.

For about a month or so until a few days ago, Lichfield Road had been closed from the islands up to Lynton Avenue.

Stafford needs it's roads fixed, but Stafford town centre needs footfall, the two seem mutually exclusive. If only we had an Eastern bypass.

Patience!

It's not even a hundred years since that started.

It's only a little over ten times as long as the 'temporary' lights have been on Beaconside.

A council with any foresight would have built hydrant way dual carriageway if they ever intended to divert all the motorway traffic that way instead of through town. But we don't have a council with any foresight so it's no indication of the future! It looks like the buildings opposite are only marginally in the way of it becoming a 4 way junction

We don't even have hindsight...

The same was said about Beaconside,
The junction is becoming a 4 way junction….eventually.

I see the Weston Road has lots of white markings from Riverway lights to Beaconside roundabout. It looks like it’s finally getting some much needed repair work that’s likely to cause quite a bit of disruption. Surely “they” wouldn’t schedule it for while Radford Bank is closed?
Would they?
While on the subject of Radford Bank, I’d advise anyone thinking of using Holdicroft Road to avoid it for the foreseeable. Lots of traffic using it as a diversion outbound gridlock in the new traffic lights on the bridges preventing traffic getting from Milford.

And Holdicroft Road takes longer with new traffic lights for both the river and the canal.

When they want to get things done quickly they can.

Just hope they don’t give it the same treatment they’ve been giving residential areas…

Of course they will do it when it causes maximum disruption. Surely you don’t expect them to cause as little trouble as possible?

I have just seen a young women drive past at least two sets of 'Road Ahead Closed' signs to try and get down Baswich Lane. She failed. Why don't people actually take notice of the signs? Actually don't answer that, people just think signage doesn't apply to them.

Because more often than not the Road actually isn't Closed.
She was unlucky !
Stafford's tradition of leaving 'Road Closed' signs up long after the closure has ceased does lead one to question the veracity of the signs.

I can remember one that was there for a full year, but it became less of an issue as the undergrowth began to obscure it.

Here’s a handy (BBC) guide to all those mysterious sprayed-on notations that appear when roadworks are underway :

Is there a squiggle for "fill in this pot hole as a priority"? Just asking for a friend.
