My trusty old Toshiba laptop has the facility to be dropped onto a 'port replicator', meaning that multiple plugging in and out of connections is not required - mouse, power supply, sound, etc can all be connected in one easy move via a connector on the bottom of the machine. The 'plate' that it sits on has a 12-position draw plate, to allow for various different sized machines.
It's a handy system and I got a spare one to leave at a remote location, to avoid forgetting to take it there.
However, I managed to obtain, unknown to me at the time, a rather early version that didn't have the audio connections on it, as you might see in the picture below. Recently, I obtained a slightly tired later version with all the connections. It also doesn't have a printer connector and has two fewer USB ports, though that was of less concern.
In the picture below, the top one is the Mk1 version with the Mk2 underneath.
The 'new' Mk2 came at a a good price, and with a factory power unit, but the adjustable plate had a few screws missing and there was a connector socket nut missing, though it did operate fully. The moving plate of the Mk2 also had a slight break in one of the locating spigots.
By judiciously swapping parts around, I now have a pristine Mk2 and a Mk1 that still works adequately, to be kept as an emergency spare. Swapping the adjustable plates over was rather more difficult than I anticipated, but both are still working in their new locations.
The fact that you can see this is a testament to the fact that it works.
