Bring Burger King to Stafford

Ok, everybody is right and I am wrong.
Perhaps I should teleport back to the fifties when gentlemen still tipped their hat to a lady.

:P

And anyway, I don't even live in Stafford itself although I do live in Staffordshire so perhaps I have no right to post on this forum with my obviously outdated opinions.

Carry on posting and don't be put off by people disagreeing... but then I'm used to that! :)

As to you scat, more of the usual garbage you like to post. Here's a tip, just because something enters legislation, doesn't make it right that it is legislated against. You are also once again really confused in your standards comparing something that only harms the person chosing to partake with a product that harms everybody around them.

Nope, I'm not confused at all. Bad diet and over consumption of junk food is causing the proportion of the population that is obese to rocket - the rate at which people are becoming obese is frightening. It isn't something that "only harms the person choosing to partake". Typically, people with bad eating habits pass them onto their children so unhealthy parents will usually mean unhealthy kids because the parents feed them rubbish. Obesity is costing the NHS huge amounts to treat - expenditure which is avoidable and could be used to better treat people who haven't self inflicted their ill health; this expenditure is something all of us pay for.

Wolf, it may take more than 2 mins to wolf down a sandwich but what size the sandwich? I only have lady sized sandwiches,

wtfs 1 of them? a sandwich's a sandwich - isn't it? Or is it like man flu and a cold, 1 is much bigger than the other?

Not this forum obviously...the only opinions welcome are those that conform.
Sorry but that is utter tosh. Everyone on here has their own opinion on things, I think you'll find that it's the way things are said that get the negative response. We all need to be accepting of other peoples views, because each and everyone of us is different.

Don't be silly! You have as much 'right' to post on The Forum as anyone does. :) Don't take the posts of one person as a reflection of The Forum at large - there will always be someone out there on your side. :P

Very true! However, one can't help but point out the irony of the fact that your post above seems a little aggressive, and so is a good example of how "the way things are said [can get] a negative response".

Wolfenrook was presumably just having a bad day, so let's everyone take a breather and go back to discussing the topic in hand.

Thanks. :)

Of all the burger chains that I've tried, Burger King is definitely the best - but, the best of all is Amigos in Sandwich, Kent - well worth the slight detour if you're heading for a ferry..

if I am honest Burger King is the best of the fast food joints, oh with the exception of Wimpy now at Milford :)

different.

No, sandwiches are different. For example, a huge subway submarine is what I would call a man sandwich whereas a marks and Spencer tiny 2 little slices of bread is a lady sandwich.

However, not wishing to appear stereotypical there may be occasions when a lady who is very hungry may partake of a huge lump of bread and a man who may be only slightly peckish may prefer to nibble on something small.

The reason why I can eat my lady sandwich in 2 mins may also be attributed to the fact that perhaps I have a big gob.

I once seen a man in kfc he had two familiy buckets on the table - he ate them on his own..........mind you he did have the room inside to put it all lol.
Another time in burger king in brum suberb, stopped for a bk one sunny sunday afternoon, sat in the window seating and brazen as anything this naked bloke came running down the road with only a pair of trainers on lol. Dont know how far he got before the blue boys saved his pride lol.
Yep i say bring burger king ;)

While I agree with everything in moderation....as in the odd burger won't do you any harm, I do despair about people campaigning for a burger king.

We already have numerous takeaways, MacDonalds, KFC, subway etc, why do we need more?

I would much rather have lovely little restaurants and cafes rather than numerous chains of junk food shops.

Anyway, how much junk food do you really need?

the problem with the above is that you lump "junk food" together, as if it was all the same (a bit like saying "we already have numerous charity shops ... why do we need more?").. barring facetious comments that "they all taste the same anyway :haw:"[sup]*[/sup], for someone who likes this sort of thing (i.e. me), they are all vastly different..

there is a world of difference between mcdonald's and burger king - i love mcdonald's, but i also love burger king, and would love to have one in stafford :soz:

* not any comments you have made, hothouse flower - i just mean "trying to be serious for a moment" :)

do you not consider subway to be fast food, then? i definitely do, and it's one of the few that i really don't like.. their food just tastes too synthetic, in my opinion.. i'd much rather have a fresh samich from mcgregor's or, even better, a nice sit-down one in the soup kitchen :)

Yes I do tend to lump junk food together and would indeed include subway in that.

The point that I was trying to make (but obviously didn't articulate myself properly) is that my issue is not with junk food itself but the degeneration of the High St.

For the record, although I have been perceived as a snob, I do in fact partake of the odd Greggs pastie, (thank heavens for the government u turn ) or perhaps a sausage and egg mcmuffin. I wont touch subway or Kfc.

What I was really trying to get across is my version of the perfect high st. Yes we have too many chains, too many banks etc. I would love to see more individual boutiques, but this wont happen unless the rents are dropped.

So it's nothing against burger king itself but I do feel we in Stafford are already being taken over by the big companies.

An exception is Pizza Express who are tucked away in a delightful building.

Or join darben and myself in knocking Maccy D's down to create a new St. Mary's Square off Greengate St.

You can put your BK or McD's wherever you like - i have no interest in that.

Whilst we debate the rights and wrong of MacDonalds food, their attention to hygiene is very high.

Any chance of bulldozing a few poncy coffee shops while you're at it? Also at least half the phone shops need to be culled, and if you could destroy the affront to common sense that is brighthouse I'd be much obliged.

basil

don't mention the blinds
The phone shops should decline anyway as the networks continually merge, probably end up as one great big phone company sometime soon GPO anyone ?

Thats the thing though, they all seem to be keeping their own network. The o2/voda merger will only see the tower usage merge, the companies are keeping very much to themselves. Then there are all the virtual operators like virgin and talkmobile, they don't even have a network! Then we have places like carphone warehouse, who just pimp anybodies phones.

Its all a load of **** really, they have to stay seperate because of the monopolies whatsit. If only three could use other peoples networks, as they are consistently cheapest for the phones I want but have sod all coverage at my house.
