Whilst I completely agree with your sentiment, I do wonder which land you live in, as it's clearly cloud cuckoo land or somewhere!!! Sadly the only reason bus services operate in modern day Britain is to make a profit - blame the Tories for this! No profit, no bus service, it's as simple as that, and no amount of customer complaints or social necessity will change this, no matter how much lip service is paid to these things. Other countries in Europe seem to manage to provide bus services to even the most rural back waters no matter how low demand, but then clearly they genuinely do care for social necessity rather than profit. We recently went cycling in the arse end of Hungary and every hour the small village we visited had a bus service to the local town, even though the twice we used it only had 3 passengers. For us 3 it was invaluable!
Sadly transport policy in the UK continues to focus completely on the car rather than public transport and profit is the only motivator. Having said all of that, if the people of Stafford used the bus service it would make more profit and the services would remain. Seems to me that the good people of WIldwood would rather sit in traffic on Radford Bank than use the over-priced bus service, and that's completely understandable. From where I live by the Common it costs £4.60 to get a bus to town and back, daylight robbery if you ask me, so it's no wonder people choose other options - mainly the car!
Well !!!!!!!!! That’s a bit rude I don’t live in cuckoo, I live in 'lets see what i can do to help each other land'.. I successfully got Arriva and the County Council to work together to reinstate a bus service that meets the needs of the elderly and the disabled
I wrote to the council and quoted their statutory duties and wrote to Arriva pointing out that they need to work with the council and gave them the details of pensioners that had knocked my door saying they can’t get to the doctors, the chemists or to the shops for food because they relied on the bus.
After much letter writing and even more e mails about their duty and do they want to be responsible for a pensioners death they reinstated the bus service and it’s used by a lot a passenger who all thank me for getting the bus back.
I didn’t do it because I don’t like the council or Arriva and or because of any government politics I did it because there was a need and people were struggling
You can't blame the Torres for this if people don't us buses anymore & there running around empty, what do you expect them to do, there not a charity. Bus use has been going down for years in Stafford ever since they stopped buses going down Goalgate Street. It makes me laugh to be honest , vote for a government that gives you lower council tax and boasts about that fact.
... however the reality is now becoming clear that a lot of social resources are being stripped back to to cover said reduction.
... As i said a while back, be careful who you vote for

If he had to do the same again, he would my friend, Fernando? You can't blame the Torres for this
I once waited in Reading bus station in the late '60s for a couple of hours - it is the windiest place in the world.Council-owned bus company, probably the last one.

Of course, the devil will be in the detail (i.e. the published timetables), but it looks like many Stafford evening services are going to get chopped, including those to Parkside, Highfields and Moss Pit. And it looks like Stone fares even worse, with a complete decimation of services.

Wondering when people will understand that this is what you get when you vote Conservative - there is a causal link between voting for that shower and service cuts on anything not making profit, despite the negative affect on society and people's lives. If you voted Conservative you can't complain about this sort of thing cos this is what you chose . You also ca';t complain that there is appaling care of our elderly and the most vulnerable in society. YOu can;t complain about pot holes in the local roads. You voted for sh*t services! Open you eyes!!!
As it happens I didn't vote Conservative so why are they hitting my bus service?
