Indian food in Stafford

went to the cinema to see "kick ass" tonight (brilliant), so popped into karma ii on my way home.. very nice inside - feels spacious and well lit, without feeling too big or bright.. it's split into 2 smaller rooms, rather than malabar's one big one, and arranged very nicely for party bookings, i thought..

so, i've phoned malabar to break the bad news to them, and rebooked my birthday shenanigans for in there.. £10.95 each for a 4 course meal (if you can call poppadoms a "course"), and the menu sounds very nice indeed.. you can peep it here:

Karma II main menu

Karma II extras

soz for the flash obscuring part of the menu, it's the best i could do!

What is included in that?
well, calling it "4 courses" is a bit rich, it's more like "4 components": poppadoms, any starter, any main (except fish), then either rice or naan.. still, not bad at all for £10.95, and i always struggle to finish a curry anyway, even without a starter!

Yeah that's gonna be more than enough for me too...the Lamb Tikka Jhall Joori Massala is what I have my eye on. The last few times I've been to Malabar I've been a bit disappointed, admittedly through no fault of theirs, so I'm really looking forward to trying Karma II out.

Small point, but they seem to call themselves Karma Ii, rather than Karma II - might get you a brownie, or samosa, point.

where have you got that from? the menu i linked to clearly says "KARMA II" on the front :strange:

edit: and it's presumably "II" as in "2", as their original branch is in stourbridge..

It's what they've called it on yell.com, but is blatantly a mistake.

Went there a few months back, wasn't impressed. Shame as I used to love this place 15 years or so ago. They are in the middle of refitting the waiting area from what I can see on my numerous trips past, not sure if the food will change though.

In all honesty I won't go back, it may have been a bad day or I may just not like their food I don't know. I'll stick to Spice Delight who deliver and usually serve great food, although I've not used them for months either. Damnit, I need a curry!

Aha, probably give it a miss then. Cheers.
Stick with me Tandoori Murgh Massala from Stafford Balti.

As I said, it may have been a bad night. Nobody else came in while we waited though, was just the guy taking orders and a woman out the back cooking. The food just wasn't that inspiring, I do think we've been spoilt the last few years and now just wont accept something that is merely OK.

As said before though, some people rave about Ashiana yet from what I hear the food is fairly mediocre and bland. If thats what you want though it must be great! I like heat and spice, lots of places don't offer that.
