Turns out Malabar has upset a few of late... shame, I thought was nice years ago but expensive.

We tried a takeaway from Spice Island at the weekend. Wow.

Spice Delight (SD) have let me down a few times with the fact that my Dhansak, Bhuna, Dopiaza have all tasted the same- bland.

It took a trip to the brother in law's down in Surbiton for me to confirm my suspicions that we were being conned by SD.

The missus ( a seemingly lifelong SD fan) had Murgh Mossala ( as opposed the regular tikka massala) and I a "hot" (requested) Dhansak. Amazing.

Have Karma II's menu and look forward to that too. Seems I have now finally have broken the SD hex over the wife. Must have had a voodoo doll of my wallet or somethin.

Quite a lot of bad reports in this thread.
Has Stafford got too many Indian restaurants?
I see that a planning application has been submitted to demolish Panache on the Stone Road, the old Crispin pub.
19 houses to be built.
Ashiana have resorted to reducing its prices by reducing its plate size.

Shit :(

Always thought that could be a great pub, especially with its large garden (which gets the sun all afternoon I think?). Not many 'local' pubs left nowadays, apart from round Sandon road anyway.

Bugger, have SD gone downhill? Not had one for a bit, but the last I had was good (Chicken Chilli Garlic Maska IIRC).

Went to Dilshads last night. £9.50 for a starter. main, rice or naan and a side dish. Was rather excellent.

don't mention the blinds
We quite like dilshads always fresh, good value and pleasant service, decor is a bit lacking though.....

Have enjoyed Dilshads but you feel a bit weird sat in an empty place whilst everyone walks past pissed. Good food tho. Thanks for reminding, will try a take away.

We had Spice Island again last night. Spice Delight is no longer on the radar when we trawl through the through the door menus.

Want a curry tonight, but hearing so many bad things about Spice Delight I'm wary. Who else delivers? I saw an ad in Karma for a delivery driver, don't suppose anyone knows if they do yet?

Dilshads do excellent take away. The first time I had their take away it was delicious so I called and told them. The next time I ordered from them we got lots of extras to try. Their Biriani is lovely.

I picked up some buy 2 for 1 on main meal vouchers for Malabar at work the other day, Sun - Thurs, so will be off there for a cheap meal this week.

Shame about Panache, they served nice food. Is the restaurant closed already? And when are the houses going to be built?

Had a spice delight as I couldn't see a menu for anyone else. Don't get me wrong, it was still better than many, but its nowhere near its previous standards.

I've tried a few places in Stafford now but have settled on Spice Island as my number one. The veggie curries for the gf are excellent!
