Preparing for tonight's patrols.

And (very nearly) the most southerly sunset from the most northerly point.
Used to work a coastal radio station up that way, callsign EJM. I think Marconi set up one of his earliest coast stations there.

A bit breezy on the west coast.
The Met chaps put up the odd picture relevant to the current weather conditions.

It's impressive that he's managed to put the tripod up, but using the twiddly self-timer things that you get on these modern electric cameras is quite a feat.
Gets my vote as 'selfie' of the year.
Not quite "deep and crisp and even" out west yet, but definitely a bit slippery.

Multiple checkpoints in the area last night - intended to make dodgy people feel uncomfortable.
Did a bit time around that way as a kid staying with my Old Dear's family. We'd travel via ferry to Dún Laoghaire then down to Limerick Junction by train. Then believe it or not, a pony and trap going up through Doon to the hills. I was there in the 90's walking a quite spectacular mountain called Galtymore which I'd seen many times as a kid from the hill farm, far off in the distance. It's a 3000 footer in the centre of a large flat plain, so very prominent.
