Was the joke / electrical shop upstairs not called dalans ?
Dalans moved from where Wicked Willys was near the prison. The bloke that originally ran Dalans, naffed off to Norway owing a lot of money. I'm not even going start explaining how I know that or know him even.
Personally, I'd like to see a return of seating in the centre, not bothered about the fountains.
Wilkos is cheaper than Poundland on some items, it doesn't hurt to go from one shop to another.
As for the market, more butchers would be nice, used love buying from Billingtons fruit and veg stalls too. Some of the stalls, to me, seem to be selling stuff you'd find at a boot sale these days.

I like Poundland, and even bought something from their Cardiff Queen Street branch on Monday which I'm well pleased with.

There's a misconception about the "Pound" shops, that they must be cheaper than, say, supermarkets. They aren't necessarily. They're simply an outlet for goods packaged so that they only cost £1. I remember seeing packs of 8 Nurofen there, for £1. At the same time, in Tescos, they were £1.80 for 16.

Why would you have something against Poundland? I needed some stationary today - paperclips, staples, post its, that kind of thing. Had a quick look in Smiths, headed to Poundland and picked up everything I needed, a pack of A4 envelopes and some biscuits for a fiver. Can’t fault that.

I bought my first compact discman from Dalans. Even back then I thought he was a bit of a wideboy with his big thick chain round his neck.

Used to meet up with friends up at the Cafe for a fag and a can of coke. Mum didn't know.

Remember the next shop along that used to sell "designer" jeans.

Looks like Shoezone is returning to the guild hall

Recently closed out in the town centre they are re-opening right here in the Guildhall, please say a big Stafford welcome back to Shoe Zone!!!
Shop fitting will start this coming Monday and they anticipate they will be opening on Friday 8th December.

That's a quick turn around on whichever unit they've opted for (old Vision express or Bay trading would be my guess since like an artsy wack-a-mole the art gallery / craft shop is relocating to the Top Shop unit in time for Christmas)

It's a shame the art gallery can't have a permanent home (I realise the Shire Hall was it) as it has some lovely stuff, but I suppose they're getting free rents out of it.

I might also be enough to get some data to put together a business case for it have a forever home.

I read in the newsletter that the art gallery are moving to another temporary home before moving to their new permanent home within the next few months.

Toys R Us may be about to close around 25 stores - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42204182
The Stafford store was only ever a temporary store, however, that article suggests they still have to get the go ahead from their American parent company before store closures, but I thought that part of the business was already defunct and the uk arm was trading in its own right ? , I can see the whole lot vanishing within the next few years tbh :(
