Perhaps the a***holes are twitching ?

  1. Having checked the Environmental Impact Regulations 2011 (which were in force at the time of the application, having now been amended as of 06/04/2015), we believe the proposals are a Schedule 2 development, as they come under section 10 Infrastructure Projects (b) Urban development projects, including the construction of shopping centres and car parks, sports stadiums, leisure centres and multiplex cinemas;. We believe the proposal needs to be screened by the local planning authority to determine whether significant effects are likely and hence whether an assessment is required, ? .
Just found this somewhere else !

How is acceptable to sell the idea to the council and the people of Stafford with an artists impression then build something different?

Well its near enough guv'nor, and its only Stafford after all.

At least they made the effort to pretend, still not seen any drawings of the rugby club site.

What good is a shiny new shopping centre if you can't get to it.

I've noticed an increasing number of parked cars on Hillcroft Avenue, just off Weeping Cross, so those saying Stafford needs a park and ride are right as that road seems to be becoming an unofficial one. Rather annoying driving down there with all the parked cars.

People used to do that at the hospital - when it was free.

So if people are parking there, where are they going to? Walton school? The church? Bodmin shops? Surely they aren't walking into town?

In the old days at the hospital, people from various areas would arrange to meet there - then leave, in one car, and pay to park just that one in the town.

It's in Weeping Cross - nowhere near the hospital. I'm a bit baffled by what the hospital has to do with it. Am I just being dense?*

*careful how you answer that one ;)

I had to read it a few times. I think Gramaisc is saying that the hospital was used as an unofficial park and ride when it was free to park there.

As @Lucy has interpolated, I am suggesting that it is possible that there is an impromptu Park n Ride system in operation, as there used to be at the hospital, before the parking charges made that non-viable.

It is merely conjecture, I rarely make it to the south of the town since the defences were dug.

I noticed an m&s coming soon on the side of the building today. It also said something like just doing the finishing touches, but I couldn't read it and drive at the same time so it probably didn't say that at all

I have been informed by the Agents representing the new Riverside scheme that everything is on hold because they need to replan.
I know they are having problems getting national retailers to sign up, plus primark are desperate to get someone to take over their lease.
Clarks shoes pulled out a while ago.

Rumour has it there is also a problem with the foundations, however like I said this is only a rumour
Care to comment now @Staffordian and divulge your most excellent sources?

Ye never had that PM.

what's that I smell lol.

we don't know the ins and outs but there are some on here who I purposely think stir it and make it up and others who would be glad to see things fail instead of be successful. A sad state really.

I too say well said Gareth.
I've been on my hols for the last week so reading this thread in it's entirety from the start. It's one long whinging moan as far as I can tell. I'm getting so fed up with the negativity surrounding Stafford. I'm not even from Stafford originally but I'm as proud of the town as if it was my home town and it makes me happy that things are being done to make it a County town to be even prouder of. I've always thought in the 23 years I've lived here, that lovely as it is it doesn't really get treated as a County town and I'm really happy to see it developing. BUT OH MY GOD so many of you just have to complain about EVERYTHING. You say Stafford is rubbish then you whinge when things are done to improve it. There's just no pleasing some people and I think a certain few on here are just trouble makers, serial moaners or deliberately trying to provoke.
Count your blessings Stafford people, there are far worse places to live.
