Yesterday, pan fried sea bass, dauphinois potatoes, asparagus and wilted spinach.

Today I made celery soup for lunch and lots more for the freezer.

Tonight I copied @littleme and made the Pinch of Nom Lemon and garlic chicken tray bake that she made the other week.
Haven’t got the book so I used the link that she’d very kindly provided, and very nice it was too.

Made a cake today, so I’m going to have a slice of that shortly.

Not sure why*, but we are having picnic style buffet food.

*The carer didn't take the chicken out of the freezer in time to defrost & make the Honey garlic chicken that I wanted. :ohno:

I'm sure he did that on purpose, just cos he wants pork pie. :strange:

(Mini sausage rolls, mini spring rolls, chicken gyoza, mini quiches, mini baked camenbert - all out of the freezer & left over from Christmas.

Pastrami & 2 types cheeses - in the farm/deli shop delivery this week.

Gherkins, olives, pickled shallots & Christmas chutney - in jars from the store cupboard.

Coleslaw & potato salad - the only 2 things we had to buy to go with the other things).

It's amazing how you can throw a meal together from the freezer & store cupboard.

Tonights culinary offering was the other half of last nights home made chicken pie, with the ½ inch pastry.
I could have bought one from either Sainsburys or Asda when I was in, but the sauve cheeky sod that is my youngest reckons - ''I've been really spoilt by my Mummys cooking, why should I want substandard stuff?''.
He's getting his own tmrw, I don't finish work untill 20.30.

I'm making meat & potato pie on Sunday (well, I'm dumping the pie filling in the slow cooker before I go to work, then I'll make the pastry/pie & veg on the side when I get home, cheats tea).

Looking forwards to home made pie...

I don’t blame your son, with pies, home made is always better than shop bought.

So tonight I can’t really be bothered.

Just pan fried some mushrooms and added a tub of shop bought mushroom sauce.
Added fusilli. So it’s veggie mushroom pasta.

When he gets home from Birmingham he might be expecting a culinary masterpiece, what with me being at home all day without him.

Oh dear.
