Both ragamuffins but Louis on the left is a lot more long haired and it’s a battle to keep him Matt free. He’s keeping his distance at the min because I shaved his whole underside

Can I ask their names? Or is that just for those that know them both?

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.

First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—
But all of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one cat.

But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

(Potential) crisis over.

I hadn't seen her since half ten last night, but she's just returned.

I presume she felt she had to do a double shift, having slept all day yesterday in the oppressive, humid heat.

Things are a lot fresher today.

Her base staff should be back on Sunday, I believe, when things will return to normal...

So, the base staff returned on Sunday evening and the scene was attended, as there were obvious concerns about infiltration via their luggage. Once that was cleared and a feeding regime reinstated, she came back for some peace and quiet.

Since then, she has identified that there is uncontrolled access via the conservatory here, with the door to the outside and the door into the house open, so a regular presence is required in there, to ensure security.

The settee in the conservatory provides a comfortable raised observation facility.

For the last two days, she has been eating at base, so I've taken her bag of food back there. She does still have a bowl of it left here, but seems to be intent on a retraining programme for the base catering staff.

After each meal, she pops back here to sleep it off and protect the house.

She does still, however, expect occasional shed snacks, as our previous system provided.
