Worst part was the part I was expecting to be the best , in the Jury room all day at the end of the fortnight to get to a unamimous decision.
Had to pay for food & drinks we had in there ourselves ( might have changed now). I'd left my purse in my locker and wasn't allowed out to get it , so had to lend money off someone with change in their pocket for a cuppa.
Murder weapon was lying on the table we were sat around and came close to be used again as not all would agree on either Murder or manslaughter and close to ending up in Tillington Hall Hotel overnight ( locked in a room so couldn't talk to anyone). My first thoughts were " I should have stuck clean undies in my handbag"
All the rest of my jury were called on another case the week after as well , but I'd told them I was aware of someone I knew up for
trial and I got sent home
Oh...and don't be tempted to nip out of the actual court corridors to the loo if sent to wait outside courts for a recess.......I nipped out and couldn't get back in with a code on the door. Mad panic! Ran to the front door security who got me back in ,and got a right telling off for going out of the court part.
Just got back in time to save being done for contempt of court.
Have fun !
I had a murder/ manslaughter case for a fortnight.I've been summoned for jury duty! Anyone done it before? The possibility of having to hear upsetting details aside, I'm oddly looking forward to it, should be an experience.
