Press release due at 4pm apparently, but all reports so far say google are gonna shaft the early adopters by charging over £300 for the phone alongisde a contract!

So hows the Hero doing?

Just had this from Motorola:

Thank you for contacting Motorola.

We would kindly advise that the decision to release the Milestone on any given UK network is a decision to be taken by the networks themselves and not by Motorola, as the networks choose whether or not to buy the Milestone from Motorola and add it to their product range.

At the moment, we have no official word from any UK network regarding their intentions concerning the Milestone.

So thats the end of that then. I can't get a signal on my current contract phone since I moved house so need to replace it ASAP, we have a dead spot covering 90% of the property (I can get a signal in one corner of my bedroom!). I wont pay £400 for a phone, I wont get an android phone limited to 1Gb of data a month as the expansys contract is, so I wont get a Milestone.

Motorola finally come up with a good phone again, and no network wants it. Can't help feeling this has something to do with the networks falling over themselves to sell iphones.

The contract they offer has a 1Gb 'fair usage' cap on it, despite being sold as unlimited. I could use that on spotify alone, I intend to stream stuff from my home server to it so need more than that.

Ah gotcha.. I calculated my usage on my Hero a week ago and predict it will take me aproximately 20 months to use 1GB of data... however I don't use spotify, just gmail, twitter, facebook etc

Just been looking again at the Milestone, and play have it sim free. However, their returns policy states if you open the box its tough titties! How can this be, I thought the distance selling regs were EU wide now? Is Jersey not part of the EU?

Hmm. So play can, quite legally, refuse a return if you open the box unless it is faulty? Will order off a UK company instead, I've never seen one in the flesh so want to be sure that keyboard is an ok size for my hands, and no shops sell them for me to look at.

Had a HTC hero now for a couple of weeks and using it along side my iphone... got to say for the tech geek inside me, the Hero is winning for me so far.

And I'm now in the pie and ale house using it. Impressed so far, only installed wavesecure but that's great. Only current gripe is the d pad makes the kb off centre, getting used to it though.

Big step up from the 6500 slide it replaces!
