I'm one of those that always thinks everything will be okay, and that makes me an emotional wreck when it comes to thinking of my past animals, so maybe worrying is a better state of mind to be in.

Our first cat Smokey (who moved himself into my house one Christmas, when I didn't like cats at all & was adamant I only like dogs) disappeared for weeks before he came home to die, he had been a stray & I was used to him going on his travels for a few days at a time. :( I found him in the front garden, but I'm so afraid of death & dead things that I couldn't pick him up to bury him & had to wait for my husband to come home from work late at night - it was horrendous & I've never forgiven myself....

...I'm scared of illness too, so I think I dissaccociate myself & just think the worst....everyone else is all 'ooohhh shes on the mend' & all I can think is 'she's been hit by a car, her pelvis is broken in 3 places on one side & 1 on the other, how can she possibly survive'?

Hohum, at least I seem to be good at taking care of her, she was pleased to have a fuss today...

In my experience of vets, they're pretty matter of fact, so if yours is saying she's improving then she is.

I get where you're coming from though - my best friend died a few years ago and ever since then I always think the worst when someone is ill, including myself

I'm still worried & I still think that she may not last, although everyone else in the family now seems to think she is fixed, or they're just ignoring how poorly she is. :(

Cats are quite resilient after a trauma they always amaze me how quickly they do recover

Good news that she is enjoying a fuss today .Keep on doing what you are doing @littleme, lots of rest, fuss and treats and I'm sure she will do her best to get stronger and hopefully go on to make a good recovery.

I know when my dog lost her leg and then went on to have cancer in the other leg several times, all seemed lost and we feared the worse each vet visit. Especially when the leg was first amputated and it seemed impossible that she would ever get better and be running around again. But despite all the operations with a lot of fuss and cuddles, plenty of treats ( and many a night of me lying downstairs by her basket ) she bounced back each time and went on to enjoy 16-17 happy years with us.

That final vet visit they knew that she was past operating on again and told us so.

As jacs says, if the vets think she is improving and still giving her a chance to get through this, then they must be thinking she has a fairly good chance of eventually making a good recovery.

Come on little Sophie Cat...you can get through this !

How's she doing today @littleme?
Well she's eating really well now, at least as much as normal & taking much more notice of stuff going on rather than sleeping constantly. She's very glarey & grumpy though - it doesn't help that Pheobe-kitten keeps sticking her paws through the bars of the cage to steal food & water (strange kitten drinks water by dipping her paw in the water & then licking her paw)...so overall she's grupmy & but eating well :)

How is she today @littleme ?

Is she continuing to improve?
She seems to be, although she's not impressed that we have changed all the expensive/treat foods back to normal cat food & she holds out on eating it until I sprinkle Dreamies on it.....

She's tried to escape her crate twice in 2 days & we need to move it later so we can put the Christmas tree up... fun, fun, fun.

I see that a "Sophie Is Innocent" rooftop protest is under way @littleme 's house.

Poor Sophie having to put up with the other two - Pheobes about to launch herself into the tree!
I was wondering how long your lovely looking tree is going to last, still upright and looking lovely :D

No wonder Sophie is grumpy, she's probably thinking she'll be missing out on some fun and games ...

Sophie is still grumpy, probably more so now as we had to move her to put the tree up - but at least she has that to look at too!

The tree is only just surviving, Pheobe (now known as $@&*$&#-Squirrel-Cat) thinks she should live inside it, about halfway up, getting her out involves a lot of hissing & spitting - & not just by me!
